We had the good fortune of connecting with Teala Stampley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Teala, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risk is a necessity to living life truthfully and authentically. I took a risk two years ago and quit my corporate job to pursue a life of purpose and meaning. Taking that risk landed me to living the life of my dreams and pursuing my acting career. Risk always comes with consequences be them good or bad. Was it all worth it to quit my job and take the risk of falling flat on my face? Yes, I’m still seeing it through but even on my bad days it’s still worth to do what I love.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started my acting journey doing background on Chicago PD. I had no idea how to get from background to front and center. During those long hours on set I began to network and talk to others that were interested in pursuing a career in acting and had made moves. I took there advice, did some research on my own and landed my first talent agency within months. I’m most excited about the drive and determination that I have for this industry. I have a movie coming out this year, The Burden of Guilt by Lilton Stewart III, where I portray Mallory one of the leads. I am so grateful to God for the opportunities that I have been blessed with. It ain’t easy by a long shot but nothing worth having is easy (so the saying goes lol)

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have moved away from Chicago 3 times and I’ve come back 3 times. Why? Because nobody has better food then Chicago! The creativity, variety and diversity! When my family members come to town I always have to take them to Buona beef to get an Italian beef sandwich. Bike riding on the lakefront in the summer time and stopping by the Buckingham Fountain for the light show is always a hit. A 3 piece from Uncle Remus. For a good night out, anywhere is a hit in Fulton Market but I love Kitchen+Kocktails, black owned and great vibes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without my family I wouldn’t be able to fly. My family is the wind beneath my wings. I thank my mother for believing in me and always having my back.
