We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Whigham and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, how do you think about risk?
Without risk you can’t live your full life. I’ve taken risks that not only involve my financials but my mental capacity. Once your mind is made up, you can take any risk.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So in the mortgage world, it is our job to make sure that the client is fitted with the best product. Often times people think a lender is just a lender and it’s not. Think of it as buying a pair of shoes. You aren’t just going into the store grabbing what you think is your size without trying it on. It’s the same thing with your mortgage. You aren’t just going to a bank or a broker and saying write me a mortgage. No you need to see what the best fit is for you. I can’t say that the last few years haven’t been challenging. Obviously we had Covid and we didn’t and the rates began to rise and then inflation and they prices of the home have been astronomically high. However, it’s just one of those things where you say OK I’ve gotten through another day let’s do it again.
Some of the things that I’ve learned along the way, is that even if you get seven no’s the next one might be a yes
you just have to keep trying.
I want the world to know, that even when you don’t feel as if you can do something there is always somebody unexpectedly rooting for you. And it’s not to say that you don’t deserve the root, what that saying is somebody that you would have never expected is rooting for you. Do not let that person down.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
That’s so hard! I’ve only been in Atlanta going on 9 months now. But some places I really enjoy are Rose Bar, Batsi, Scrum-did-dly-ump-tious, Embr, and of course Atlantic Station.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The first sales manager I’ve ever been hired under, Angela Curtis-Nepa. She took a chance on me when I doubted my work. Alongside Angela, my mentor Mark Eliades has been extremely helpful. He was assigned my mentor for be 6 months but I’ve always let him know, he is absolutely stuck with me.
My fitness guru Jai Davenport-Perry inspired me to the fullest to put my health first. Without her I worked still be stuck on that spin bike not moving my legs.
