We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Nicole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
One of the biggest and most notable lessons being a self-employed, career focused woman in my industry is that not everyone can’t successfully work with clients: you have to talk. My clients say I make them laugh, and while I never thought myself comedic, I am an honest, wild artist. I love my craft. I want every experience to be an open, raw, safe session. If my subject is uncomfortable, I want them to feel like telling me that is easy. I want clients who have life issues come up, be able to reschedule with ease. I want to work well with other creatives and stay teachable. Working in hospitality beforehand really taught me these skills, as well as my bachelor’s in creative writing and my minor in humanities. I stay in the know, I stay inclusive, and I stay aware and open to criticism. If I did not have an open mind, or honest rule book, my work would reflect that. My business would suffer.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Running your own operation is never easy. I work 24/7. I am always thinking of new ways to adapt and change. It was the other small business owners in ym community that took a chance in my work early on and gave me honest advice. They pushed me to become what I am today.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Tallahassee is beautiful and for those who have not been, I would show them the tree-to-tree adventures at the museum, a beautiful zip lining experience. It showcases some awesome tally culture, animals, and the scenery. For dinner, I’d take them to Hummingbird Wine Bar for lasagna and a charcuterie board. There are some amazing sommelier’s there. 1903 is an awesome bar too with drinks from every decade.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

She is a new role model of mine and mentor. I’m excited to collaborate with her. She has taught me the importance of teaching myself, staying focused, in getting involved in groups with other bosses and business-minded women.
