We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Lauder and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am originally from Solon Ohio. Since the first iPhone came out in 20027, I have been taking pictures of everything and anything. From the trees, to the snow (because… Cleveland) , to the puddles on the sidewalk. I saw/see beauty in almost everything and anyone. My mom took notice of this almost immediately, letting me know that the pictures I take are fairly decent. I come from a family of doctors, nurses, teachers etc…so being an artist wasn’t ideal. For my 16th birthday, my mom and aunt got me my first professional camera. They told me to show them what I can do, and they will support me with taking whatever I learn and realize from having this camera, to the next level. Once my mom passed in 2018, I was done with the sport I was playing and decided to take on photography as the replacement. Since then, I have been building Taylor Lauder Photography into the business that it’s going to be.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I like to call myself “THE Portrait Queen”. I say portrait Queen because faces are amazing to me. I see everyone differently than the world does. I believe that’s my true gift, and why I capture what I do. I am a natural light photographer, I love the challenge of outdoor photoshoots. I want people to know that I am catered to capturing your best moments because I can. I love the natural state of everyone I shoot. Making them comfortable, talking to them during the shoot is what brings out the natural beauty in everyone. I’m growing as a photographer every day and every shoot that I’m fortunate enough to be involved in. I always have room to grow my business, I always have room to get better at my craft, but I am The Portrait queen.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d definitely take them to my favorite Restaurant in Cleveland which is Bangkok Thai. I would take a visiting friend to the Art Museum, Pinecrest or around Ohio City because there are a lot of cute bars to bar hop and just walk around and enjoy the day. I’m a foodie, I love to try new restaurants and different cultured dishes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout my family and my big Sis Nikiiyah Gest. Without my mom and my family, I would not even have the equipment to do my photoshoots. To my good friend Nikiiyah, she has played a huge role in my life since I was in 9th grade, to playing volleyball together, to seeing her flourish as an artist in amazing to me.
