We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Green-Shine and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
There’s been a lot of times when I’ve thought about giving up on my dreams. Dreams of modeling, creative directing, as well as creating my own business. The reason why I never gave up is because I can’t. I love what I do so much, and my passion is rooted deep within my art. You know within yourself to keep going because giving up would mean losing not only your happiness but a part of who you are. Never give up on your passion. So many blessings have come recently because I kept going. No matter what keep going. As a designer I recently met said, “Failing does not mean failure.”

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Versatile Fashion Model. I am also a Creative Director and Makeup Artist. I truly feel my approach to creativity sets me apart from others. The way I look at the world creatively, to me there’s no limits to how far you can go. The one thing I’m most proud of in recent is my performance at the finale of Pitch Black Fashion Weekend. PBFW is an amazing platform that speaks out against domestic violence and child abuse. I had the opportunity to assist my mentor as his #1 brand ambassador, as well as model for 5 amazing designers. I made so many amazing connections, and I also received so much positive feedback. It was a long road to get to where I am today. There were so many obstacles in my way that I had to find my own way through, but I had help from some close friends to me. Even though I have a long way to go still, I’m grateful for where I am today. I’ve learned a lot about the true nature of the industry, and also how to educate other models on some of the business standpoints of the industry. I want the world to know that I am a force to be reckoned with. There’s a fire burning bright within me and I’m going to show everyone why I consider myself the goddess of creativity.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are a couple people I’d like to shoutout and give credit to. There are two special people I’d like to thank first and that’s my mentor Derrick “The Cakeman” Fowler, and my boyfriend James Pogue. James is a talented guitarist who plays for Marc Dub. He has always been supportive of all my endeavors since day 1. He has shown me nothing but unconditional love and understanding. I appreciate him so much. Next is Mr. Derrick Fowler. I’ve known him since 2018 when I first met him participating in Taste of the Runway. He has always supported me and has taken me under his wing. He truly is like a father to me, and I want to thank him for always caring about my well being as well as my career. I also would like to thank Mrs. Bena Klier of House of La’Rue. She has never switched up on me in the entirety of our time knowing each other. She has helped me heal and grow in so many ways. I can’t thank her enough. I’d also like to give a shout out to my amazing bodypaint artist Darius. He is extremely talented and I appreciate him trusting me with his visions as well as collaborations we’ve done.
