We had the good fortune of connecting with Tayla Reese and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tayla, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My photography business started out as just a hobby for me. I received my first camera when I was in middle school and haven’t put my camera down since. The thought process behind starting my own business came from a dream of getting to do what I love for a career, to be my own boss and make my own hours. I also grew up with a father who started and ran his own successful business for many years with his business partner. It has inspired me to take the same journey, hoping to be just as successful as him.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart the most is the connection I make with my clients, I always try to make them feel beautiful and comfortable while shooting with me. I am excited about all the future opportunities my photography career will take me. The biggest challenge so far is learning not to undervalue myself as a professional photographer and I am learning to charge what I am worth. I want the world to know that I have so much more creative content coming and this is only just the beginning!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some cool places I would take a friend in Atlanta would be, Buckhead shops, Atlantic Station, and Krog Street Market. A few places we could eat would be, Plant Based Pizzeria and Herban Fix.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to recognize my late father for all his support, love and encouragement growing up. I would also like to recognize my creative team Azjah Fagan-Ri’chard and James Campwoods for all of their effort in helping to create photoshoots to building each others portfolios for the last 2 years.
