We had the good fortune of connecting with Tayla Jansen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tayla, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
Since I am a naturistic photographer one thing my business has taught me is to go with the flow and roll with the punches. Thunder storm, have to reschedule. Windy day, move camera angles to use the wind to your advantage. You never know what your day is going to look like working outdoors especially in photography but I love it because I know no two sessions will be the same. Also, it seems mother nature is constantly pushing me to find new perspectives on how I view something. I can be stressful at times but majority of the time the inconsistency makes the job even more exciting.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One thing that sets me apart from other photographers would be my prices. When setting these I wanted to keep in mind that a majority of my clientele is college students and I know for me as a college student I do nit have hundreds of dollars lying around for a photographer. I do this because I love it not for the money. I love capturing raw moments so that way they can live on forever and getting someone to view themselves in a different light is my favorite factor of all.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I grew up outside the city so I am not too familiar with the hidden gems, but some of my favorite places are near midtown. My best friend and I’s favorite thing to do is go to ATL hawks basketball games, bartaco (best tacos you will ever find), walk around ponce city market, and we always like to find one new spot for drinks every time were in the city.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this shoutout to my friends. Without their constant support my photography business would not be where it is today. From constantly hyping up my work to helping me find new clients they have always been there for me and celebrated my successes with me no matter how big or small. Also, a special dedication and thank you to the friends that would come to sessions with me and be my “assistant” for the day, I will forever cherish those memories!
