We had the good fortune of connecting with Taurean Stephenson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taurean, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Born and raised right here in Atlanta, Ga. I graduated from Southwest DeKalb High School, Georgia State University, and Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. My mother was a practicing attorney and a state legislature in our city for over 20 years. I was raised and groomed to be a legal professional as well as a public servant. I have over a decade of experience as a paralegal. I genuinely enjoy working with people and fighting for the voiceless. In September of 2019, my mother was diagnosed with Dementia. As her only child and advocate, I had to fight for each and every benefit that she had payed into for years. This opened my eyes to how many people actually don’t have someone that will go hand over fist to fight for them when they can’t fight for themselves. I took a certification course to hone my skills, and this month I launched Stephenson Disability Group, Inc. I solely represent my community before the Social Security Administration and help them win they compensation they so truly deserve.
What should our readers know about your business?
Stephenson Disability Group, Inc. is a boutique disability advocacy firm. We focus solely on fighting for the voiceless. What sets us apart is that I am a law school graduate trained in legal writing which benefits my clients on a daily basis because I formulate a tailored legal argument in every case. In addition, I have years of medical experience evaluating medical records and conditions. This is a tremendous benefit to my clients because I am able to analyze their records and present them to the Social Security Administration in a way that it more than likely to result in an award of benefits. We offer personalized services and provide seamless communication with all of our clients. My client’s become family when they retain Stephenson Disability Group, Inc.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a foodie at heart. The perfect night out with my friends is a nice upscale seafood restaurant playing live music. I enjoy dressing up and getting cute to people watch and listen to music. My favorite drink is a classic margarita with a sugar rim, not that I get to enjoy them often, but when I do, it’s a whole movement. Otherwise, I actually enjoy being home with my kiddos watching suspense movies and laughing at their jokes. I guess after the hustle and bustle of running a business doing nothing at all feels oh so good!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly, I would love to shout out my three beautiful children. They have truly held me down in the trenches while growing my business and working day in and day out. They are both my motivation and inspiration. I want them to proud of the legacy that their mom leaves behind.
