We had the good fortune of connecting with Tatiana Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tatiana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always known that working a 9-5 for the rest of my life was not for me. I obtained a bachelor’s degree hoping to achieve the “American Dream” in the corporate world. Snagging a great paying job in the Healthcare industry was my goal but that never happened. My resume entails numerous good jobs but I’ve always found myself getting bored with the robotic routine of doing the same thing everyday or seeking a position paying top dollars. For years I would come up with ideas of how I can free myself from the typical work force but there were so many that I never focused on just one. Finally I decided to walk out on faith and quit both my jobs so I can focus on doing the things that I enjoy. Now I’m the owner and only employee…lol for my cleaning service “She So Tidy”. One day I’ll have a team that will go out while I start another business.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I think the name of my business stands out from the rest. I’m a huge neat freak and the name actually represents who I am personally. I’m not a maid. I just like everything to be neat and tidy. I’m very proud that I’m finally taking my ideas and making them reality. Who would’ve thought I’d be running a business? So happy and proud of myself. I stopped allowing jobs to be a crutch and security blanket for making sure the bills would be paid. There’s so many ways to accumulate money without the standard 9-5 check. I changed my mindset. That’s how I got to where I am today. Starting my business was very easy and inexpensive. I was just always concerned about making sure I would be able to maintain a roof over my family heads. I’ve learned to stop letting society dictate what’s best for me. I’ve learned that nothing happens overnight and to just focus on one project at a time. That’s the only you’ll actually achieve your goals. I would like the world to know that “She So Tidy” is top tier and that one day this small brand will be a monster in the cleaning industry.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly I’ve here almost 4 years and still feel like a tourist when I go outside…lol. I would take them to the Aquarium, Dr. Kings home, we’d dine at OLG, Chicago Bar & Grille or Club Monticello, Andretti and maybe the Trap Museum. Gosh there’s so many places to experience here. I’m sure they’d probably Google a few places before arriving. Everyone does….lol

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This is easy! My family and a few friends. My significant other and our daughter are my biggest supporters. Even when it was just an idea. They encouraged me and helped me with ideas of how to structure everything. They actually still do. My friends support me as well but those two are definitely my ride or dies.
