Meet Tashia Tate | Executive Director & Digital Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tashia Tate and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tashia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thoughts when developing my own businesses were “What services can I provide to the community?” “How can I help the voices in need to be heard and adequately represented?” I began from there to start developing a publishing company to produce stories, inspire change, and empower futures.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Trials and tribulations have come my way, yes. However, the lessons I’ve learned along the way have made me who I am. Now I can pass my teachings on to others to avoid similar mistakes. Being in multiple male dominated industries can be intimidating and daunting, yet I believe your work can speak for yourself. There were many times I just wanted to give up and not try anymore from the responses I received. And in that doubt, I realized it is more beneficial to keep going and keep inspiring because you never know who’s watching and where your journey could be taken. When not perfecting my craft in music, handling my businesses you can find me under the hood of a car, channeling my passion for restoring and customizing rides. Whether it’s in the studio, or the garage, I’m always working on something fresh and exciting.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take my friends to Ponce City Market for a few drinks and some fun entertaining games. Then we would head south to the newly named Echo Park Speedway that occasionally throw on balloon rides and car meet events. Have them dabble in the car world at night as well as meet new people and mingle.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Wonderful! I would say my professor James Perkins from Southern Crescent Tech college is to start. He is a wonderful professor and mentor when it came to the behind the scenes of the film industry. Randy Waczkowski of Name’s Blue Media has been a great source of community and mentorship. With working on various projects and events with him has given me the experience as well as confidence needed to trust in my work.
