We had the good fortune of connecting with TaShay Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi TaShay, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I decided to pursue acting and entertainment full-time, I was a mom of four, a wife and I was working in healthcare full time. I had no clue as to where this road was going, or how much I needed this change in my life. I just knew opportunities presented themselves and I wanted to make the best of the opportunities that I was given. Taking that first step is always the hardest thing to do but after taking that leap of faith I realized how much I enjoyed what I was doing. Singing with my band during the Cure festival, and acting with some of Houston most well known Entertainers gave me A breathe of fresh air. I knew at that moment that I wanted to do what I loved and most importantly what I was naturally good at. The fulfillment was worth every rehearsal, every go see, every audition, every no, every photo shoot, and every learning experience. I thought to myself, how do I make this work for me and my family, because this is what I want to do.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an actress, a print and Runway model, a host, and all around entertainer. It’s safe to say I just love the Arts in all forms. From theater on down to drawing. Before I started acting and Modeling, I sung in a live band for a few years with a talented group of entertainers called, “DCL Live Band”. This platform brought inspiration and opportunities for me to start acting and modeling. I also, co-host a podcast with a group of amazing actors Called, “The Just Acting Up Show”. Where we interview other actors/actresses, writers, producers, and entertainers. In addition to being on the show, I do the promotional voice-overs as well! Just recently, I was added to a group of writers for a magazine called Jewelz Fashion and Lifestyle Magazine. What makes me unique and sets me aside as an artist, actress, model, host, and writer is my energy and my dedication. I’m always trying to get better and that makes me a constant student of those around me. However, what gives me satisfaction is being an inspiration to the women who were told it’s impossible to start this type of career later on in life! It is not easy to pursue acting and modeling after starting a family, but with the help of my support system, I was able to do what I love. I have learned the with the grace of God, perseverance and hard-work, I can achieve anything I set my mind to. In the End, I want the world to know that it’s never too late to chase a dream, the hardest thing is taking the first step.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Lennox Mall would be the first stop. I enjoy shopping and exploring fashion with my friends. This mall and the surrounding shopping centers are filled with all of my favorite stores. I would probably go Lennox at least three times within a week because there are So many stores and places to eat. Definitely next would be Buckhead Dinner. This restaurant is one of my favorite restaurants to visit in Atlanta. Great food and hospitality always! Bojangles is one of my favorite fast food spots for grabbing a quick bite. So don’t be surprised if you catch me in the line. Another stop that I would definitely take my friends is Uptown Comedy Corner. It’s a nice, cozy spot to dip into for a good drink and funny comedians. Last, we would visit Rose and Rye, Drinks and vibes flow fluently here! Its connected to a hotel just incase you over indulge. I just Love the Ambiance!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My support system is soo strong that I can name paragraphs of people that have helped me. Thank you to everyone who gave me insight, opportunities, mentions, ideas, and collaborations. First and foremost, thank you to my Husband, who is the main reason I was able to explore my options when it came to doing entertainment. With his help, I was able to work knowing home was well taken care of. This alone gave me the piece of mind I needed to focus on the opportunities that were in front of me. Ryze records, Just Acting Up, Rosalind Branch-Muhammad, DCL live Band, BLKJAGfilms, Elmore Visions,Queens Ent., Jewelz Fashion and Lifestyle Magazine, and the list is much longer, thank you!
