We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanisha Lisle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tanisha, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I have a few habits that help me to be successful on a daily basis. First thing in the morning, I say a prayer, I thank God for allowing me to see another day. Some days I will meditate for 5 minutes to clear my mind. I work out in the morning so that I can receive that burst of energy that will carry me throughout the day. If I didn’t do it the day before, I take some time to compile a To Do List. This helps me greatly because I feel so accomplished when I can scratch off the things I have completed. Finally, I CHOOSE to have a POSITIVE attitude. This is so important, it is very easy to let one thing or one person destroy your mood. Choose to have peace in your life.

What should our readers know about your business?
I own Tried and True Events, LLC. It is a full service event planning company. My company will handle every detail from start to finish. We plan birthday parties, bridal showers, bachelorette/bachelor parties, family reunions, small weddings, travel planning, ship party boxes and provide photography services. We value our clients and our goal is to lead with our heart and soul and execute a timeless event. I am most proud of my ability to pivot during the pandemic. My business was just getting off the ground in 2020 and the world shut down. Needless to say, I was scared, but I started creating party boxes and shipping them to clients, I focused on photography and was able to do shoots that were safe for both myself and my clients. I worked on building my network and connected with other planners and photographers via Zoom. I have been in business for two years and it has been a struggle but it has also been very rewarding, Along the way I have learned that it is okay to fail, that is the only way you learn. I have learned that connecting with other people is a good thing, it opens up additional opportunities. There are enough seats at the table and we can all eat. Supporting our friends and business associates is important. We should all do that more often! My business name Tried and True was given to me by God and it sums up my intention, purpose and being. Tried and True is defined as something to be Trusted, Proven, shown or known to be Worthy. I trust that you will trust me to be all of this for you and your event.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am going to assume the world is open and Covid is no longer a life threatening issue. My best friend arrives and it is up to me to plan our week of fun. We are going to spend 2 days at Chateau Elan for some R & R. Spas and wine tasting, you can’t go wrong with that! When we return home, we will dine at some of the best local eateries. My best friend loves Mexican food, so we will eat at my local spot Taqueria Jalisco. We definitely have to visit Truist Park f/k/a The Battery. Maybe catch a Braves game if they are in town. We will go to Southern Art and Bourbon Bar for a Bourbon tasting event. We will go down to Krog Street to take in the street art! We will go to Little Five Points and catch an improv show, get dinner at The Vortex. On a Friday or Saturday night we can go downtown to Sweet Georgia Juke Joint to catch a live band and eat some really good southern food. My bestfriend and I really enjoy Karaoke so we would have to include that activity in our itinerary but since we are both somewhat shy, karaoke would be at my house! Music, drinks, food, lots of fun! Before my best friend leaves we would definitely have to visit the Georgia Aquarium and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. Our week will be busy but also fun filled, we can rest when we die!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out my husband and my close friends, they have always encouraged me to go into event planning. They knew it was my passion. My husband encouraged me to try photography. When he saw how good I was at it, he suggested I add the service to my event planning business. I am so glad I took his advice because I have been doing pretty well in this field.
