We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamsy Kambi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamsy, what is the most important factor behind your success?

As a nano influencer/content creator I believe the most important factor to my success would be consistency and quality. Consistency and quality goes hand in hand with anything you do in life. For example, trying to lose weight, you must be consistent in your workout routine and do quality exercises in order to see the results you want.

I remember when I first started content creating on Youtube in 2018. I was so excited to get out there and wanted to work with my dream brands as soon as possible. I pitched myself to a bunch of brands when I was only 200+ subscribers in and with only maybe 20 videos that weren’t the best of quality or consistent topics/niche. Oh might I add I posted videos pretty much whenever I felt like it, so I wasn’t consistent in that department either. So of course with all that being said, I received a lot of “ghosted” emails with no replies or flat out “no thank you”. I took a step back and went back to the drawing table to figure out “how I can be more attractive to brands”, “what am I doing wrong?”, “what is it my favorite content creators doing that I’m not”. That’s when I took into account of lack of quality and consistency I was bringing to the table. Once I was able to build a routine that worked for me, I started to get noticed by brands that I didn’t even imagine would see me. I am still a nano creator but to see the hard work I put in those 2 factors [quality and consistency] it have definitely shown a lot of success in my brand.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

First off, lets start with that I am a full-time Emergency Room RN but on the side I am a social media content creator that is obsessed about fashion and beauty. I am most proud of finally not being afraid to be myself and do things I love without caring about what others think and more so by being myself I am able to inspire and motivate others. Being a content creator sometimes isn’t the easiest with balancing a full time job, creating content on your own with no team, the business behind it all and having my own person life to juggle. I try to find a way with balancing it all through clustering my creations and edits and scheduling everything to keep me on track to not feel overwhelmed or burnt out.

Two of the biggest lessons I’ve learned through this journey is 1.) To not compare yourself to others. It’s easier said than done, I KNOW! In the beginning of this journey I use to compare myself to other creators all the time to the point that I noticed that I was not being true to myself and almost started to mimic the the person I compared myself to. I didn’t like that at all. I learned to look deeper within myself to highlight what makes me unique and different that people loved. The second lesson I learned is “If you play small, you stay small”, With being a nano content creator, it can feel a bit intimidating when trying to decided if it’s a good time to pitch to brands because you’re a “small” creator. Numbers of followers/subscribers means nothing if your content has amazing quality, engagement and you bring so much magnitude to your purpose and influence. I have worked with so many big name brands that reside in stores like Target and Walmart, it still amazes me. So from now on, don’t think small or you will stay small.

I would love the world to know that my personal brand Tam Kam [@mynaturalhigh] is here to inspire women to look good and feel good inside and out through beauty and fashion. Staying true to yourself is most important rather than feeding into what makes other people comfortable. Purchase that bag! Wear that outfit! Book that self-care day at the spa! Because you deserve it!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Whew Chile! This is the PERFECT question for me. If you follow me on Instagram [@Mynaturalhigh] you may see that going out to eat and having a great time in my city is top tier for me. I am the friend to get the suggestions and the itinerary rollin’.

I am from New Orleans, LA where everything is flavorful and you are bound to gain 10lbs over the weekend along with high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol from all the delicious foods. Oh and can’t forget the drive-thru daiquiri shops lol.

If you were to come to New Orleans for a week theses are some of my top suggestions for great food, drinks and a good time:

Brunch:

Nola Caye – Great bottomless mimosas that will have you getting dragged out the restaurant.
Trep’s Nola – Amazing cinnamon waffles + great for Sunday Game Day Spot

Broussard – In the French Quarters, Live band and bottomless mimosas
Surreys – has the best shrimp and grits in the city to me

Lunch/Dinner
Neyows – Everything creole. You can get a massive plate of food for under $20
Parkway Tavern – The best OVER STUFFED shrimp po-boys in my eyes
Gus Chicken or Willie Maes | the BEST fried chicken that I have ever indulged in.

Activities:
Hummingbird Lounge | Over the 14 Parishes restaurant, has great music and chill vibe, with an urban crowd [Saturday nights only]
Hi-Ho Lounge | feature local and national live music, comedy shows, & more. Its also a bar!
Magazine St., Frenchmen St, & Feret St. | My favorite streets in the city to just hangout, bar hop and have a great time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

This isn’t such a simple answer because a lot of individuals have been my support and shown so much love and encouragement throughout this journey as an up and coming content creator. I would first like to say thank you to my 2 siblings, my oldest and little sisters that always encourage me to follow my dreams and goals no matter how crazy they may seem. My sisters have been knowing my dream for being an influencer and content creator years before I finally took the leap to start it. My sisters are a piece of me that makes me whole. Whenever I need someone to be my mini photographer, my little sister usually helps me out and takes the role of being my camera girl no matter how busy or tired she may be. She knows it means a lot to me to grow in this business, so I appreciate the time she contributes to making my ideas come to life. As far as my older she is my mentor whenever I am feeling down about something and need someone to confide in when I am having ill thoughts about my career. She always motivates me and tells me how proud she is and makes me reflect on all the things I accomplished thus far.

Lastly, my fiancé, he is my number #1 fan that I never knew I needed. He shows so much encouragement and support to any content I produce by sharing almost every single content I create from Instagram posts to my Youtube videos on all over his social media platforms without me asking. His pages start to look like a mini advertisement page for myself something lol. He is my cheerleader and I love him for that.
