We had the good fortune of connecting with Tammy Leavitt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tammy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

When I started my entrepreneurial endeavor five years ago, I never imagined all the opportunities, people, and experiences I would have that led me to where I am today.  I began as a Mary Kay Consultant, which provided a lot of personal development and made me realize I really enjoyed entrepreneurship and working with people.  In the early stages, I spent a lot of time playing it safe, reading/watching videos about products and strategy.  I remember the moment I realized I needed to step out from the comfort of analysis and education and be a doer.  I saw the future as a journey like a whitewater rafting adventure.  There would be fun exciting moments (success) but also disappointing and frustrating moments (stuck on the rocks/slow moving).  It’s been a continual journey of meeting people and new opportunities.

I created an initiative with my Mary Kay business “Pink Philanthropy”.  I advocated and fundraised for nonprofits and special causes.  This enabled me to make connections with numerous non-profits to promote their causes through word of mouth and hosting/attending events, in addition to fundraising.  I became connected with numerous nonprofit organizations and introduced them to people in my network to magnify the impact of these organizations.

I have realized that I am a connector and enjoy connecting people to others and resources. Through networking, I have realized that there is always a significant purpose to every event, if you look for it.  It’s very rewarding to feel like I have helped someone in some way whether it is through a product I am representing or simply sharing beneficial information.  I have made deep connections and friendships and have been led to events that have opened new paths, such as owning a women’s networking group and becoming a Juice Plus partner.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

My business is Proactive Vitality. One of my initiatives is to share Juice Plus to help families make a simple change to add the benefits of fruits and vegetables to their diet. This fall I will be a corporate sponsor of a local school to connect with students and families sharing the wonderful Juice Plus Healthy Starts program.  Healthy Starts provides the opportunity to gift a child, between the ages of 4-25, with Juice Plus Essentials with every adult order.

Proactive Vitality provides awareness and accountability on how healthy lifestyle choices (sleep, hydration, exercise/movement, stress management) and nutrition are necessary for nurturing our trillions of cells, organs, and aid in promoting detoxification and so much more.  Food is medicine and can not only prevent disease but also can reverse or lessen disease and provide healing.  Many people find it challenging to consume the recommended servings of fruits and vegetables every day and Juice Plus bridges the gap with an easy opportunity to add 30 fruits and vegetables every day.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Gibbs Gardens – every visit is spectacular and a photographer’s dream! Sawnee Mountain – energizing hike with stunning views
Cairn View Winery – always a top-notch experience – great wine, owners/staff and ambiance.
Delbar – A gift for your tastebuds with delicious flavorful middle eastern food.
Avalon – One stop for great dining, shopping and entertainment.
Madlife Stage & Studios – fun cover band music venue with great surrounding restaurant options
Onelife Fitness – my most frequently visited happy place! Great gym/classes/instructors, clean, friendly and great value!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to recognize Chris Wark (Chris Beat Cancer) – 20 year holistic cancer thriver and patient advocate. Chris was a keynote speaker at a conference I attended in February 2022. I remember him sharing that “flooding his body with fruits and vegetables” was instrumental in his cancer healing journey. Prior to hearing his testimony, I had considered myself to be very health conscious but quickly realized I was primarily weight loss/management focused. This changed the trajectory of my extensive research to holistic health and nutrition, Shoutout Atlanta recently featured my friend McPatti Langston. I met McPatti through networking and she invited me to the above-mentioned conference. It’s a great example of the unknown people and experiences you encounter on the adventure. Both meeting McPatti and then her inviting me to this conference so I was able to hear Chris speak), have had a profound impact on my journey.
