We had the good fortune of connecting with Tammie Peterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tammie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Earning money by doing what I love and passionate about, while being in my “Happy Place” which is a creative space–A Photography Studio. It’s rewarding to me and I love the artistry of the camera. I’m hoping to one day to have my own Photography Studio.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me apart from the average Photographer that does Portraits and Events, is that I’m also a Red Carpet Photographer as well. I’m incredibly proud that I’ve gotten the opportunity to evolve and elevate to other areas of Photography such as a Red Carpet Photographer for esteem events as the NAACP Image Awards, The Soul Train Music Awards, The Trumpet Awards, The Urban Music Awards and most recently again the Black Music Honor Awards and upcoming the Stellar Music Awards which focuses on Gospel music industry. In November, I’m hoping to be approved for the Latin Grammy Awards being taped in Las Vegas. I’m always excited about meeting other Photographers when I’m at events. I love the fellowship and creative vibe of being around other Photographers. I was extremely excited to have been chosen and hire as the Behind The Scenes Photographer for the Inaugural Power Rising Summit in Feb. 2018.

It wasn’t exactly easy, but I got to where I am with God, as I have been abundantly blessed with so many opportunities and connected with certain people who were involved in getting me to where I am today as a Photographer. Some lessons I learn were always be learning and keeping up with the latest technology as it relates to the Photography industry.

I want the world to know that being a Photographer means very passionate about my creative skill and my brand is ensuring to always capture the important moments.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spot and the area I’d take my visitor is the Eastside Trail Beltline! It’s a really cool area that has a wonderfully vibe and energy of people and creative art and music as you walk it. We would eat first at Playa Bowls which has delicious healthy fruit bowls and smoothies! Then eat at the Krog Street Market area Superica restaurant, Guac & Margys for great Nachos and Ponce City Market for also eating and shopping with local vendors outside and great places to shop and eat inside as well. It’s excitement to see people performing underneath the bridge with singing or dancing. Also, there’s people always performing out in front of the Krogers and backside of Ponce City Market. You can chill and relax at the Starbucks while watching performers or just people watch walking by while enjoying a nice Starbucks drink.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would say Alfreda Stukes and Londzell Hardy. Alfreda who’s been a wonderful friend and client since 2009, extended me the offer to be a Photographer for her Women/Men of Distinction organization after meeting her at a restaurant in Roswell, GA. She was a visitor there one evening and she saw me taking photos as I was the House Photographer. She engaged with me about her organization and I was excited for that opportunity and the rest has been history.

Londzell Hardy, the owner of the former Londzell’s Martini Lounge and Restaurant in Roswell, gave me the opportunity to be his restaurant’s House Photographer for his patrons. I would take photos of the patrons dining at the table and any events that were happening to be shared on the restaurants website and social media pages. Many of my clients were from patrons that ultimately help start my photography business.
