We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamiko Lowry Pugh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamiko Lowry, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is my ability to live my life according to my values, making sure they align with everything that I do. My values are what I believe in, what I stand for, and my convictions about what is most important in my life. Living according to my values, keeps my life and business in balance, allowing me to effectively prioritize my goals and determine the best direction and course of action I should take. I believe that values are the driving force behind any successful life. One of my favorite quotes by Dalai Lama says, “Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.”,
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m the CEO of Living The Empowered Life, LLC – a personal & professional development lifestyle enhancement firm for women, the host of Living The Empowered Life Podcast, the CEO of Living The Empowered Life Academy, which is a virtual learning platform that teaches women how to use their expertise, and experience to build profitable and purposeful transformation businesses. In addition, I am the founder of The Still Standing Alliance – a nonprofit organization that focuses on domestic violence advocacy, awareness, and prevention. As a survivor of Domestic Violence, I am very transparent about my healing journey. This has allowed me to construct a powerful movement dedicated to the empowerment and personal development of women across the world. What sets me apart from others is that I really enjoy what I do. I’ve built my business based on my own personal experiences, my story, and the expertise that I’ve gained over the years. I teach my clients and students to do the same.
My life and business are all about making a difference in the lives of others. We were all put here to make a profound impact. My business motto is “Make Money, and Make a Difference. I got to where I am today due to a personal experience with domestic abuse. After I escaped that relationship, I made it my mission to use my story and experience to educate people on the topic, as well as use my story and experience to make a difference. One of the biggest lessons that I have learned along the way is always seeking wise counsel, having a mentor or a coach. Mentorship is one of the most valuable resources you can have. They provide a shared learning experience, direction, tips, advice, suggestions, motivation, and support. I want the world to know that success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes an investment of time, dedication, purpose, and commitment. You see, the purpose of life is to grow and become all that you were intended to be. Live your life with passion, embrace your purpose, and maximize your full potential.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my most favorite spots to visit in the city of Atlanta is The Battery. There are different restaurants, lounges, and activities to participate in. Not to mention, it’s where the Atlanta Braves stadium is located. The scenery is perfect for a fun selfie or a group photo. If I were taking a group of friends or just one, I’d take them to Cru Wine Car, where we could order a fruit & cheese platter and sip on wine flights while catching up with one another. I’d also spend the day hiking at the Roswell Mill & Waterfall. This is also a great place to take fun pics, hike, enjoy the scenery and just take in nature, all while getting in a good workout. Of course, living in Atlanta, I’d have to take them downtown to visit Centennial Olympic Park, The World of Coke, and The Aquarium. And last but not least, we’d spend a relaxing afternoon on a boat at lake lanier.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, Kenny Pugh for always believing in me, encouraging me to pursue my passions, and always supporting my dreams. He believes in me, even when I don’t believe in myself.
