We had the good fortune of connecting with Takesha Kellie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Takesha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
To be honest, I was scared! Scared to fail of course! I realized we all have to start somewhere, so I put my big girl pants on and jumped head first. I just keep telling myself I have to keep going!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I chose this profession as a Hairstlyist because I loved how it made people feel! Once you get your hair done/cut you become a better version of yourself! I’m proud of it because it’s a way to put love out into the world and it doesn’t feel like “work” . Was it easy? Heck no, in fact it was hard to get my salon off the ground but very much worth it! All of the challenges were learned from working in other salons and learning the dos and don’ts. I want the world to know that as long as I got my two hands and you need a life changing experience I will be here to give it to you! Our hair is our crown, and however you wear it short long, red or brown you should wear it with confidence!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
South Carolina is a retirement state, but we have a lot of hidden gems! A week long trip we would probably go down to dirty myrtle( Myrtle Beach) for a few days. Def check out the seafood spots. After we may ride to Charlotte for a little shopping trip and upscale restaurant experiences. Once we’re back in Columbia we’d probably go to downtown Vista area, and hit up sody city on Saturday to shop locally. They have everything under the sun!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would dedicate my shoutout to my family! I’m really big on family and I sacrifice alot of time and special moments away from them to be in the salon! My first born JaKelle Destiny, my only boy Jackson Chase, and my newest addition Jewel “JuJu”. Of course my significant other Nune! Without God and my family I would be so lost!
