We had the good fortune of connecting with Taivia Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taivia, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote is one written by Dr. Seuss and it reads, “Be who you are and say what you feel” because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind. I came across this quote in college while I was still very young and finding my voice. I love this quote so much because it encourages people to be who they are without worrying about what others may think of them. For me personally, it helped me to find my voice. I learned not only how to advocate for myself but others too by being genuinely and authentically who I am and standing up for what I believe in.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am most excited about accomplishing my dream of becoming a therapist. Every since I was 18 years old, headed off to college, I knew what I wanted to be. I didn’t know the entire path, the struggles or challenges I would endure but I was optimistic about the journey and getting to the finish line. It feels great to look back at my 18 year old self and say “yeah I did that.” I got to where I am today with the help of God but also an amazing support team. I’ve built many meaningful connections in the counseling field that has aided me in reaching bigger and better opportunities. I’m so grateful to have such a good circle of people around me. My path was nowhere near easy, I had many challenges and adversities at many different phases of my career and during my journey of becoming a therapist. It was hard to see at that time but became much clearer later on that I needed to face those troubles to evolve and grow. The most important lesson I learned along the way is to never give up! If I had thrown in the towel, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I would never get to share my success, my struggle, my challenges or lend a helping hand if I never stuck to my vision. I will NEVER regret sticking to my plan. What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I am a person of integrity. Therefore, everything I do is with integrity in mind and my brand represents such. Authenticity and genuineness is important to me. My brand pushes people to be there true authentic selves and discover who they are at their core. Because if we can’t be vulnerable, open, authentic and genuine with ourselves then who can we do so with?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of the most interesting places to check out in Atlanta is the beltline. I love the beltline because it’s full of plenty to do for everyone. Great for the dogs, kids, dates, grabbing a drink with the girls or even taking a solo stroll. The views of the city are absolutely beautiful from the roof top and the vibes are amazing. It’s definitely a place to make unforgettable memories and enjoy the ambiance.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
