We had the good fortune of connecting with Taena Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taena, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my business was always an idea I had even while in school. The architecture field lends to it. I wasn’t 100% sure how my business would work, but after working in 4 different architecture work environments, I realized that I could start by providing supplemental help for others in my field. It meant that I could filter who I wanted to work with and how many people I wanted to work with, while still keeping my day job. It’s not the original idea I had for starting a company but it was an adaption that helped me grow connections and experiences that help mold my business. Even to today.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Love, passion and commitment. Yea, I’m talking about my business. From the start I wanted to think of my business as a personal part of my life that I share with people. My services impact my clients and is also a personal part of them. The hardest part of business is not taking things personal. Even though I share much more than my professional knowledge I always am aware that I am providing a service and overall my service is a takeaway that no longer serves me once I hand it off to my clients. Every time I think about my business name it reminds me of why I started it to begin with. If anyone decides to start a business, give it everything! Don’t just do halfway. Let it grow and transform but give it a great foundation to always fall back on.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Funny story just got through spending a week with family and friends and they all turned to me give them a good idea of what to do. I always recommend Marietta Dinner. They have a crazy amount of food selections and the best deserts. We also went to the roof on Ponce City Market. Great view for first timers and fun for early evening/night events. I also recommend the aquarium it’s marvelous and great if you have kids. My 2yr old couldn’t stop saying wow.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh for sure my husband deserves a shout out. Before he was my husband we worked at a firm together but he has supported me and opened my mind that what I was capable of. His entrepreneurial spirit keeps our businesses thriving and is one of my main reason for not only starting my business but being successful at it.
