We had the good fortune of connecting with Sylvia Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sylvia, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan’s west side. I’d say my upbringing had a strong impact on who I am today. The streets of Detroit taught me how to make a way out of no way! The lack of opportunity is what brought me to Georgia and that changed my whole life in a very positive way.
What should our readers know about your business?
Currently I’m Operations Manager at an amazing company, Smooth Mooove Senior Relocation Services. We specialize in the relocation of seniors. I love it because I know we really make a difference in helping people. Some who are unable to help themselves and some who just despise moving, lol. I also own an internet radio station, On Blast Radio Atlanta, that caters to independent artists and entrepreneurs. Some wonder how I juggle it all along with my many other talents, and my answer would be I have a lot of passion, drive, and determination! Like I always say nothing in life worth having comes easy. I’m probably one of the very few people on this planet who despises instant gratification. Things just mean more when you’ve earned them, when you really have to put in the work. Something I think is very important for the world to know is never give up on you! We all have a purpose and a gift make sure you’re being true to you and yours!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There’s so many wonderful things to do in the city but I’m really a home body. Most of my friends know this. I’m a sucker for a good meal and some shopping! Otherwise I’m home working on my personal growth whether that’s reading or working on my businesses.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost I would have to send a huge s/o to my cousin Adrienne, owner of Smooth Mooove. At a time where I was really uncertain about my future she allowed me to come to Georgia and work for her. I started from the bottom as a packer and gradually earned my current role as Operations Manager. She has been grooming me for years to possibly take over the business but also in my own business endeavors. She saw a need and fulfilled that need and has been doing it 20 years word of mouth. Now that’s something worth shouting out. I can honestly say I don’t know where I’d be without the opportunity she provided me. Outside of her I’d really like to shout-out every person that pushed me to keep moving towards my dreams whether it came in a negative or positive form. I use it all as fuel!
