We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydni Cook and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sydni, what’s your definition for success?
Success to me is creating something I love or something other people love, true success would be creating something that many people love and I love myself. Whenever I create a song that clearly moves others it shows me why i love music and resolidifies the purpose of what i do.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So my name is Sydni Cook. I love to create music and sing because I feel it is a pure expression from ones soul. If we can be authentic in our writing and our expressions, we can relate to others in a deep and meaningful in real way that you can’t relate to others when you just try to make a “hit song”. There’s some thing so magical about a song that you can project your own situation and your own stories onto, a great song can make you feel heard and understood even if you have nobody in your life at that point in time. I am really proud of myself because I funded all of my own Music expenses by going to work, but I also make a lot of my own music by producing myself and putting in the work to be a great singer and writer. I’ve put in my chops and I love to work with other people as well, but I am just extremely proud that I have made myself to be, self sufficient and independent.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Atlanta. If I had somebody coming to town, I’d first take us out to drinks and a dinner at 6 feet under off of Cheshire Bridge. Then I would see who I know who has a section at a club and the city, and I would secure us a spot there. I would say on a weekday to visit Six Flags because it is one of the most fun spots in Atlanta, and on the weekdays, you can avoid school students and ride rides back to back.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
