We had the good fortune of connecting with Sunny and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sunny, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I would not be where I am today if I had not taken risks. I believe taking risks exposes who you are and the Greatness you’ve always had deep down inside of you. I decided to start an e-commerce business in the middle of a pandemic with zero knowledge on how to run an online business. Taking risks allowed me to not only become successful in my e-commerce business but to also help others start their businesses through a pandemic. The risk I took to start a business from scratch with no funds and previous knowledge is just what I needed to find the Greatness that had been within me the entire time. The best part about taking risks is you never know what amazing things you will be able to do because I was able to work from home as a CEO that gave me more time for my passion which is to write and produce my music. Taking risks not only opens up Business opportunities but gives you a chance to live a life you want and Love.

What sets me apart? EVERYTHING. And that’s what special about us all we all have things that set us apart from one another yet connects us all in one. I am Sunny, I am from Chi Town (Not ChiRAQ) I have been Creating since the age of 3. My art and creations are very personal to me. Ive been struggling with defining who I truly am my entire life. Feeling different, Feeling misunderstood. My Art wether I was dancing, playing the Viola or writing poetry, My art allowed me the freedom to express myself in a way the environment I lived in did not. My pieces of art are a reflection of me : my experiences, feelings, and inner thoughts. Im ever-changing, and in this way I could never recreate the same body of work. My music is one of a kind. With lots of gems if you listen long enough to hear them. I’m excited that I’ve recently been able to put together two projects “Family Affair” “BubbleGum” with experiences I’ve gained over the years experimenting with different sounds and methods to form a cohesive, unique style.

How did you get to where you are today professionally? Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?

I Hustle in every way. Most of my funding to invest into my Music Business came from working in the strip club s/0 to (Jimmys Gentleman’s Club) I had some rough times after graduation from college as a single mother with a new born child. I landed a nice Marketing gig at Exact Data (Downtown Chicago) I worked 10 times harder then my coworkers and my numbers showed it. I was starting to turn heads and the sales executives weren’t too happy with that. My skin plus my work ethic tends to intimidate people with certain mind sets. I walked into work one day with a note on my desk saying that they were letting me go and they didn’t have to give a reason as to why. Tzars when I realized I would never work for anyone again. That night I became a Stripper. One of the craziest, hardbody, Great paying jobs I’ve ever had. Anyways I invested my club into my current business MetaSupa. Took myself out of the club by replacing it with a e-commerce business. To now being being able to say I am the CEO of my own Entertainment Company . All I did was work! When my daughter had school. I was meeting with different investors, Doing Online Marketing for small Business owners. I would Pick my daughter up from school take her to gymnastics, dinner done, getting her homework finsihed and In bed by a good time. Then at night going to dance, getting in at 4am and Composing music. 3 songs a morning. Until it was time to wake my daughter up give her breakfast and take her to school. I think that dedication and perseverance played a big part in getting to where I am currently. My love for Music and the Arts started at the age of 3. I danced my heart out everywhere I went. Then I picked up a Viola at age 8 and learned to read music, I remember writing my first Rap with my Father (Rest in Paradis King). We wrote my first rap on our 5 hour drive to Dayton Ohio. It was called Vicious. From that day forward I spit everywhere and I wrote notebooks full of lyrics. I am fortunate to have a few incredibly supportive individuals within my reach. Challenges will always arise I just overcome challenges one by one, as much as I can. I think the best advice I can give is to create as much as possible as often as possible, and stop every now and again to appreciate the progress you have made.

What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?

One of the lessons I have learned is to Listen to music, Go to open mics, go to concerts, watch some documentaries about the greatest musicians of all times. I used to have this idea that I didn’t want my art to be “influenced” by other artists, but that is silly! Of course my art is influenced by other artists—it’s influenced by every experience I’ve ever had.

Ive also learned that Networking is important. Don’t be afraid to reach out to another artist or musicians on social media. Artists love talking about art: their art, your art, other people’s art.

One of the most import lessons I’ve learned along the way would have to be Don’t wait for others to find you! Be brave and put yourself out there despite whatever fears you may have.

Lastly I’d like to say learn to enjoy the process. For me, when a song is complete, it is not for me, it is for you, the viewer! My fans! It is now put out into the world to help wether you need encouragement or just to shake sumn for the weekend What’s mine is the process, and I’ve learned to sincerely appreciate it.

What do you want the world to know about you and your brand
I want the world to know that @itsahsunnyworld is not just a instagram Name. It is a movement! I bring the sunnn every where I go. I am a very positive soul and it took me a while to get to this space in life where I feel comfortable to share my life work through my words with the world. I pursued the career of making music because not only has it been an everlasting passion of mine; however I also believe I can save souls through my music as well. I believe that my music has the ability to help change someone’s life, thought process, and/or perspective about themselves or certain situations throughout life. If you have ever supported @itsahsunnyworld I would like to say THANK YOU! From the bottom of my heart.

In closing, I have to shoutout the Almighty God, Allah because I would not exist if it were not for his decree that I should be assigned a purpose and a portion if his spirit. I want to encourage everyone to always put forth truth, peace and forgiveness by learning the knowledge of self.

I dedicate this to my Beautiful Daughter, Bella Jae. You push me to be a better Woman and Mother on every Level.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt, I have to acknowledge the people in my life that continue to support and encourage me personally and professionally. I am so grateful to my partner, friends that have become my family, and teachers who have become trusted friends and guides. These people not only bring out the best in me; they help me find the courage to continue being vulnerable and creative. I would like to recognize my sister Tatiana Gaddis who’s also a Mother, Ceo, and Owner of ShadesandThings Boutique. I have watched my sister Beast at everything since I was a little girl. I have always looked up to her and seen her as a major part of my success. Her style, the way she carries herself and overall the way she keeps things super organized on top of being a CEO, Wife and mother of two beautiful kids. She’s amazing! Finally, my daughter Bella Jae. She is the driving force behind everything that I do. Without her courage and support, I would not have the strength to fight everyday to grow both personally and professionally.
