We had the good fortune of connecting with Sujatha Suresh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sujatha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to start a home bakery to provide delicious and eye-catching desserts for everyone. They should not only taste heavenly but should also be the best center piece of any party.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started baking as a hobby. The first celebration cake I made was for my husband’s birthday. I still remember, it was a delicious funfetti cake. I had zero cake decorating skills back then. So, I used rainbow colored sprinkles to hide all the imperfections on the outside!! When every guest at the party had nothing but lovely remarks to say about my cake, I decided to take it up a notch. I plunged into Google and YouTube to improve my skills. I saw every event and celebration among friends as an opportunity to bake and decorate and improve. Since then, we have come a long way. We are now a registered and licensed business running successfully for the past 4 years. We take pride in each and every creation that leaves our doorstep. Our custom desserts give the clients an opportunity to add their unique touch when recreating a design.
The most rewarding aspect of our journey has been the collaborations we have had over the years with non-profit organizations like Icing Smiles Inc. and The Place. Every month we donate a birthday cake to a child in our community just to add in something special to their beautiful day.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Georgia is a beautiful place with plenty of things to do! Day 1 – Arrival and settling in
My husband is an amazing cook. So he would prepare a light dinner for her.
Day 2 – Downtown Atlanta
We could visit the Georgia Aquarium, my kids are the biggest fans of the place!
Aamar Indian Cuisine is an amazing restaurant for lunch.
We could then spend some time at the Centennial Olympic Park.
Day 3 – Helen, GA
This city should be labeled as one of the most beautiful cities in Georgia. I usually visit in December, when it is fully decorated with red and green.
Jolly’s Toy Store is a family favorite, not just for my kids but for me too.
Day 4 – Blue Ridge Mountains
I always bring my guests to this wonderful place. The scenic railway is an absolute favorite.
The Adventure Park is a fun place to spend the entire day.
Day 5 – Ruby Falls & Rock City
These two places hold a special place in my heart.
They are not only enjoyable for adults but my kids have a great time too.
I love the Incline Railway. It is a beautiful and scary train ride up and down the steep hill!!
We always love to have icecream at the end of our ride at Clumpies.
They have an amazing collection of flavors and toppings.
Day 6 – Coca Cola Factory and Childrens Museum
I love to try the different flavors of this amazing drink for all over the world.
Day 7 – Departure
An amazing and delicious home cooked meal, loads of talking and drive to the airport!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am incredibly grateful to have a loving and supportive family that has played a pivotal role in the success of my business. Their unwavering encouragement, sacrifices, and dedication have been instrumental in helping me navigate my baking journey. My husband, Sivaprakash, has always been there for me, providing emotional support during both the highs and lows.
He has also been very supportive financially. Whether it was investing in the initial stages of my business, or helping with expenses during lean times, his willingness to share the financial burden has been a significant factor in my business’s growth. He is also my trusted driver for all of my cake deliveries. He is the only one who has the patience to sit through my constant nagging for the entire drive from our home bakery to the venue to drive slow!
I would also like to thank my lovely kids, Surya and Satya. They are my little guinea pigs whenever I try out a new recipe or when I have leftover cake trims from my weekly projects. They are very understanding whenever I have busy weekends, and forego their movie nights and other outings, so that I can get my job done in peace.
My family has celebrated every milestone and achievement of my business with genuine pride and joy!!
