We had the good fortune of connecting with Sterling Grey-Simmons and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sterling, how does your business help the community?
As a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist Specialist I play a vital role in educating and supporting families as it pertains to breastfeeding. The most recent CDC data show that 75% of white women have ever breastfed versus 58.9% of black women. The BIPOC community is greatly in need of breastfeeding education and support. It also helps them knowing they have someone who looks like you make you make you feel more comfortable. I also wrote an Educational Breastfeeding Coloring Book so that everyone could be represented and color the book in their own image.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I always tell my clients “I’m true to this not new to this!” I’ve been doing this unofficially almost 10 years now. Knowing others don’t have to suffer through wondering where and how to find support and resources truly brings me joy. I’m working on some things now that are truly going to revolutionize birth work. I’m excited about providing breastfeeding education and assistance to families all over the metro Atlanta area in person and everywhere else virtually. I recently launch a Doula Breastfeeding Course “Straight From The Tap” in order to provide education to other birthworkers to better assist their clients. Along with that I have an Educational Breastfeeding Coloring Book that is also an extremely valuable resource. As a mom who has breastfeed three children and faced ups and downs associated with breastfeeding I know what it’s like to need support and education. I created Loyal Lactation to be the support that I wish I had when I was embarking on my first breastfeeding journey.
