We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephen Pitts and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephen, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
In my perspective, my artwork is the very best representation of my highest creative skill and imagination. I decided to try to build an environment for myself in which I could foster my talent and ability and present it with the public. My artwork also offers the most all encompassing way for me to share my thoughts and ideas about our world.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started drawing at age 10. Also, at this time, I became interested in electronics. Later, I dropped out of college, and worked various temporary jobs. I continued making art, and became interested in depicting electronic devices in my art. I began studying electronics to become more effective at drawing electronics devices, and eventually became an electronics technician. I worked in the electronics industry for 35 years. I continued making art and participated in art shows during this time. Later, I lost my job in the electronics industry and now I do my artwork full time.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Lowe Mill Artists Cooperative is a must see for anyone interested in the Huntsville art scene. There are many remarkable artists there. The Space and Rocket Center has many fascinating space related exhibits. The US Veteran’s Memorial Museum has many excellent exhibits from US military history. Monte Sano State Park is a beautiful natural area in Huntsville.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My artwork is inspired by my interest in Tibetan Buddhism, the artwork of MC Escher, and the musical composition of Johann Sebastian Bach.
