Hi Stacy A., what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting Stacy Lawes International was driven by a combination of passion, creativity, and a desire to make a unique impact in the fashion industry. As the founder, I have always had a deep love for fashion and a strong belief in the power of self-expression through clothing. I recognized a gap in the market for high-quality, stylish garments that were accessible to a diverse range of individuals. This realization ignited a spark within me to create a brand that would not only offer exceptional design and craftsmanship but also celebrate individuality and empower people to feel confident in their own skin. The vision was to establish a fashion label that transcended trends and catered to individuals who sought timeless elegance with a modern twist. Stacy Lawes International was born, with the mission of providing fashion-forward individuals with a brand that reflects their unique style and values.

Getting to where we are today in the business world has been a challenging yet rewarding journey. It certainly wasn’t easy, as building a brand from the ground up requires perseverance, resilience, and a strong vision. However, we overcame these challenges by staying true to our values, maintaining a customer-centric approach, and continuously adapting to market trends.

One of the key lessons we’ve learned is the importance of staying agile and embracing change. The fashion industry is dynamic, and it is crucial to remain flexible and responsive to evolving consumer preferences. We also understand the significance of building meaningful relationships, whether it’s with our customers, suppliers, or team members. Collaboration and open communication have been instrumental in our growth and success.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Atlanta, Georgia for a week, I would make sure they have an unforgettable time exploring the city. Here’s a sample itinerary that includes some of the most fun, interesting, and exciting places to check out:

Day 1:
– Start the day with a delightful brunch at Toast on Lenox, known for their delicious menu and cozy atmosphere.
– Visit the historic Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site to learn about the life and legacy of the iconic civil rights leader.
– Explore the vibrant Krog Street Market, a food hall with a variety of culinary options and unique shops.
– End the day by attending a service or event at my church, Freedom of Atlanta, to experience the uplifting atmosphere and connect with the local community.

Day 2:
– Catch an exciting Atlanta Hawks basketball game or an Atlanta Falcons football game, depending on the season, at the state-of-the-art Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
– Enjoy dinner at a local eatery in the bustling Ponce City Market, known for its diverse food offerings and trendy atmosphere.

Day 3:
– Start the day with a visit to the Atlanta Botanical Garden, where you can explore beautiful displays of plants, flowers, and art installations.
– Explore the Atlanta History Center, which offers engaging exhibits showcasing the city’s history and culture.
– Grab dinner at a popular local spot like The Optimist, known for its delicious seafood and lively ambiance.

Day 4:
– Laugh the night away at a comedy show at The Punchline or The Laughing Skull Lounge, two renowned comedy clubs in the city.

I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my amazing support system, starting with my deceased mother, Dr. Yvonne J. Lawes, and my father, Dr. Lenford G. Lawes. Their unwavering love, guidance, and belief in me have been the foundation of my journey. They instilled in me the values of hard work, perseverance, and always pursuing my dreams. Their constant encouragement and sacrifices have shaped me into the person I am today.

I also want to recognize my sister, Shelly Lawes, whose unwavering support and friendship have been invaluable. She has been my sounding board, my confidante, and my biggest cheerleader throughout this journey. Her belief in my abilities has given me the confidence to pursue my passions wholeheartedly.

Additionally, I would like to acknowledge the impact of my church, Freedom of Atlanta. The spiritual guidance, community, and uplifting environment provided by my church family have been instrumental in shaping my character and nurturing my faith. Their collective support and prayers have given me strength during both the highs and lows of my entrepreneurial journey.

Together, my mother, father, sister, and church community form the village that has supported, nurtured, and molded me into the person I am today. Their love, mentorship, and encouragement have been invaluable, and I am forever grateful for their presence in my life.
