We had the good fortune of connecting with Soufsyde P and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Soufsyde, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve pursued an artistic or creative career because I’ve always enjoyed doing artistic things. Helping to make a beat, write a verse or song, listening to music, reciting some of my favorite songs, as well dancing from time to time.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from most artist in my opinion will be first how i construct a song even before recording it. The stories I tell showing not only the good times, but the bad. I’m proud of the consistency I give my music, and the feedback that I receive. I’m excited to put out my new album entitled “G.O.S 2: Grind Or Starve 2,” which will be out Sept 2022 on all digital music platforms.

I got to where I am professionally by first listening and reading. Saving the money needed to make a project. Taking the necessary steps to be legit, and staying focused to my craft. It is easy, if you take the time to read. But if you think, just recording a record is all you need to do then you’re fooling yourself!

Some of the biggest lessons I’ve learned thus far, would have to be communication is key. No one knows you, or what you want better than yourself! Never be afraid to speak your mind especially if it refers to you. Never be quick to sign a contract without reading it, or getting a lawyer to look at it. Have fun with what you do, if you don’t have fun with what you love to do then you really do not love it!

I want the world to know that I am not just a hip-hop/rap artist. I’m a songwriter, co-producer, motivational speaker/youth speaker, big brother, uncle, future entrepreneur, and I am currently a custodian as well. My record label, “C.D.A.A.T : Conquer Dominate Anything Around Territory,” is a urban/pop entertainment group based out of Washington, DC.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite places in my city to shop will be Tyson Corner Mall. I like Mexican food so Uncle Julio’s would be my go to for Mexican. Ruth Chris in Crystal City, VA for steak. If you want some adult fun I would recommend Dave & Buster’s, the go-go, DC Improv Comedy Club, or checking out one of my areas sports teams.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a big shout out to first my family and God for being my biggest supporters, Ms. Nikki C for believing in me and connecting me with your magazine. The entire Go-go circuit in the DMV area where I first started rapping and preforming with my go-go band Mad Collision (MCB.)
