We had the good fortune of connecting with Somya Agarwal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Somya, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Being my own employer and my own boss. This was my inspiration to start something of my own. I wanted to be independent but I also wanted an oversight to make sure that I am sincere & punctual, just like you are when you have to go to a job. Another reason was that I wanted to provide website design, maintenance, and marketing to small businesses at affordable rates. The tools to succeed in the online world are mostly free or cheap- but what prevents businesses is the high cost of services. I wanted to remove that barrier

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I learned the business the hard way. After making a website, I keep waiting for clients. It took me some time to realize that websites need to rank among the top in Google search for people to click on it and ask me for a quote. That’s when I learned search engine optimization and excelled at it. Slowly my website started ranking and I started getting more leads. Then it was the matter of giving the right quote. I work at fixed prices because I don’t do work below a certain standard. Therefore my profit margins are fixed. This took me a while to make a perfect pitch that people would understand and appreciate that this is the right way to do business.

While my company provides services at very reasonable costs, the small businessman by their nature is looking for the cheapest services. Its not always a good idea to do so because you are hurting the long-term prospects. You will end up frustrating yourself and shutting your business. Our services offer the best quality and also great returns in the medium to long term. It’s thus most beneficial for any business in the Atlanta area who is looking for web design and marketing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start off with an evening tour of Avalon in Alpharetta. The open-air mall with sophisticated shops and the people- it’s my go-to place when I am feeling low. One of the days I would take them to Alpharetta downtown, visiting wine-tasting & some sumptuous Indian street food chain.

The next day would be for a home-cooked meal and then for dinner I would go to Yellow Chilli of Georgia. One of the places I love in Atlanta is Ponce City Market. It heaven, if you are a foody and I, would definitely take my guests twice if possible. Atlanta downtown is always a hit, so Georgia Aquarium is definitely on the list.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It would be my family and ease of doing business in America. I am a first-generation immigrant who recently moved to the US. It was so easy to start the company, get paid & reach clients that I think I owe a lot to the USA. I know that if you are living in the USA for long time, you may find these these difficult to believe, but coming from the background from where I am from- I sincerely believe that it’s easy to pursue your dreams in this country.

While it may be easy bureaucratically to get things done unless you have a loving family and their support- none of it is possible, or at least it’s difficult. For me, my husband helped me, supported me, and still gives friendly advice on both technology and business. Without him, I could not have even thought of doing this. He is the rock on which my company is founded.
