Meet Sly & KartierDaDon | Podcasters, Entrepreneurs, Travel Bloggers

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sly & KartierDaDon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sly &, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Different people have different interests in life. Some people like to manage things and they excel in that. While there is another facet of people who like the idea of creating something from square one and watching it grow and provide value to people. Sly & KartierDaDon are the best of both worlds. Flashback to a couple of years back, we knew we wanted to create a platform that explored the minds of the younger generation. The world often disregards the expressions and opinions of the youth, due to our lack of experience in the world. The Melting Pot Co-Hosts, though being miles apart and different brought their strong suits together. It was the perfect timing for us: ideas, people, network – everything just fell into place. The podcast started as a passion project/hobby, then realized that people actually listened and liked some of our topics flash forward 2 years later we are still deep into the podcasting world.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Podcasts allow like-minded and interested people to consume targeted content that is impactful long after a podcast episode is released. The Melting Pot is a brand new podcast that focuses on—you guessed it—a variety of topics. What makes us different than any other podcasts out there is the simple fact that we focus on the “individual” rather than statistics. We must build a connection with our guests and listeners. As hosts, we often like to incorporate our hobbies such as music, traveling, and shared personal experiences to convey our ideas. Our goal on the podcast is to reach listeners and shed light on navigating the world as we continue to make history each day. Our eclectic show pushes us to not only inform but provide an outlet and stir the pot on conversations ranging from relationships to today’s societal economics. Our podcast was born out of a search for peace of mind, deep conversations have always been a soothing escape from any stress in our life. Podcasting hasn’t always been easy but personally, it has drastically changed our lives. It’s hard to get started, but if you’re passionate about your idea, it’s worthwhile. You want to invest some time making sure you understand recording, editing, etc. while you also prep your content.“An investment in self-development pays the highest dividends. A huge lesson we’ve learned over the past 2 years is that promotion of not only the episodes is everything but your brand as well. Even though starting a podcast is a lot of work, it is a golden opportunity for repurposing content and making sure your name is everywhere. As we continue this long journey, we wanted to share what we have accomplished recently which is our 6,000 episode download. In addition to our growing fanbase, we have also finished recording season 4 of our podcast so be on the lookout for that May 27th, 2022.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
With both of us being natives of Atlanta there’s always something to do in this lovely city. Sly’s top pick soul food restaurant happens to be Mary’s Mac Tea Room it’s the best place to go for a healthy dose of proper Southern cooking. Sly’s go-to drink options usually consist of sweet tea, coke, or Tequila. You can almost always find her MJQs or Fusion lounge dancing the night away. Kartier’s top pick restaurant is Ray’s in the city known for its seafood, prime cuts & an extensive wine list, plus weekly live jazz. Kartier makes it his priority to take first-timers to Mirza Lounge for some drinks and hookah. Last but certainly not least some honorable mention would include The Rage Room, The Painted Duck, and the Trap Museum.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As a city, Atlanta’s community for creatives has been amazingly supportive and welcoming. They collectively deserve a big shoutout, especially with how they have all adapted to the challenges of the pandemic. We have been fortunate to have the support of our fans, not only home-based but throughout the world. Virtual events, panels, and personal testimonies have benefitted us tremendously to keep striving for greatness.
Last but not least our family and friends. Without a doubt, We have to acknowledge the people in our life that continue to support and encourage us personally and professionally. We are grateful to each other as partners, friends that have become my family, and former guests who have become trusted friends and guides. These people not only bring out the best in ourselves; they help us find the courage to continue being vulnerable and honest while tackling controversial topics. Thanks to that, we have always been self-confident and never felt lost.
