We had the good fortune of connecting with Sk8luv33 and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sk8luv33, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important factor in obtaining the large following I have on my Instagram social media account is consistency. Like most success stories, the person never changed what they wanted to create whether it was a product, brand, or service.

Whatever you do in life or decide to do, you have to be consistent in that enough to yield results. Being consistent allows you to prove to yourself that you are committed and with time everyone else around will see it and support you.

Being consistent brings value and awareness of your brand. Living in todays time with social media, we have opportunities to leverage the internet in ways that were not available in the past.

Also being consistent, it allows you to build rapport with the community that your brand is apart of.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Sk8luv33 is a platform that showcases the journey of making a decision and being committed. I record videos of the skate community to showcase the process of long term commitment and the benefits, not giving up on yourself. We as a people have a hard time believing that we aren’t good enough because of whatever reason we make up in our heads.

My platform grew during the pandemic due to everyone around the world being stuck at home with their smart phones & devices, which for me was a lot mentally because it’s not natural to stay in the house 24/7. I felt that the world needed a reminder that no matter the challenge and task at hand, we will triumph, prevail. Even if it’s a glimpse of hope to come, a 30 second video.

Roller Skating rinks were open during the pandemic in Atlanta, Ga which allowed our skating community access to our peace and therapy, skating. I along with other videographers, shared a glimpse of this community via social media.

Skating to me shows, how being consistent in life bring results, how important family/community is in terms of relationship (Experiencing Divorce/Death & etc), how roller skating is therapeutic, and it’s a very healthy form of exercise in terms being safe on the joints, strengthening bone density and many other things.

I went through a lot before finally finding my life purpose, Sk8luv33. I moved to Atlanta, Ga in Summer 2011. I started my creative journey doing photography at local clubs on Edgewood avenue along with music networking events. Shortly after this time I became homeless due to hard times. I refused to give up a dream of making something of myself creativity outside of being known as a person who has always had a good job. So in the meantime, I took a break from purposing my creativity and enrolled in Herzing college. From there, I worked on building my experience all the way up to being an Infrastructure Operation Engineer at Law Firm.

Then the unexpected happened, Covid-19 pandemic. Along with millions of people, I lost my job due the changes of the work force, team down-sizing and etc. When this happened, I was at a cross roads. Did I want to continue the path of climbing the corporate ladder? Or Do I want to continue the creative journey I started? I prayed about it and I believe God gave me confirmation for me to continue pursuing my creative journey, which will lead me to my purpose in life. Now I’ve found it in Sk8luv33. This allows me to put all of my creative talents (Photography, Videography, Music Producer, Keyboardist, and Bassist) in one place all while sharing it to the world.

A saying that I say all of the time, “Let’s make it happen” meaning be consistent. The process is the process, meaning if someone before you made it, then you can make it. And that gives you a road map of what you’re more than likely are going to experience on your journey. -Sk8luv33

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Outside of roller skating, I like going to the Atlanta Beltline on the weekends.

Also, I like dancing (Semba/Kizomba) at @tboypeleve (on Instagram) classes on Saturday’s at OD Fitness.

I like eating at Bahel Ethiopian Restaurant, Juicy Crab, CheeseBurger Bobby’s and many other places. Atlanta, Ga has so many choices I’m still discovering places.

I like to visit the local breweries of Atlanta, Georgia. Also going to the North Georgia Mountains which is a nice getaway without leaving the state.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Thanks Jasmine Kilgore for referring me for this interview. Beautiful Spirit and person.

I want to that Avery Johnson (Bass Player-The Chronicle, Producer/Engineer-India Arie, Bone Crusher) and Rick Morris (Decks Unlimited, Drummer) for mentoring me throughout my journey of exploring my creativity in Atlanta, Ga.

I want to thank Phyllis Brown (Chi-Force Chicago Skate Group) for trusting and embracing this journey with creating our own skate night “Diggin’ in the Crates” at Sparkles in Smyrna on Tuesdays from 7pm-11pm which is targeted toward the seasoned/older skaters who love and enjoy smooth grown folks music.

I want to thank Glenn (Sparkles in Smyrna Rink Owner) for being the first rink to support me financially for supporting their skating rink on social media and etc. Thanks also for allowing me and Phyllis Brown to start up a new skate night “Diggin’ in the Crates”.

I also want to thank each and everyone of my followers on Instagram who were with me in the beginning or just started following me. I do not take any of this success for granted. I really appreciate you guys supporting Sk8luv33 Instagram page. I’m committed to taking this journey into YouTube to provide content that is longer and other creative content that’s skating related. Let’s make it happen.
