We had the good fortune of connecting with Sincere Delgado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sincere, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my business was the idea of being properly compensated from my own work and not being taken advantage of by corporate companies that benefit from my hard work. The thought that I can be independent off of something that I enjoy doing is a blessing.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Phlebstick Mobile a mobile phlebotomy company that is based out of New Britain, CT. The whole premise of our business is to target elderly people who may not have the ability to leave their homes to receive blood work. Due to that inability, I created the perfect solution which would allow a phlebotomist to travel to their location, draw their labs, then drop it for a fee. I got to establish my business from the idea of wanting to be free from corporate control. I like the freedom of setting my own schedule, prices, and not being able to get fired. The process wasn’t easy, it took countless hours of research, studying, and mentoring classes to get the proper support I needed to succeed. I still face challenges and rejection but the mission is to stay resilient, learn from past mistakes and move forward. Because I only been in business for two years, I still feel like my chapter is being written but what I can say is once you figure out why would someone want to invest in you or buy your services, then you’ll start making the necessary changes.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Unfortunately, I don’t usually go out. If I had to bring my friend to have a good time for a weekend, I would choose the Farmington Ave strip on the weekends. There are plenty of bars, clubs, and restaurants to visit and its always packed.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As cliche as it may seem, I would like to start my shout outs with God. Without him, I know that I would be in a complete 180 degrees in terms of my lifestyle. I would like to thank my mother for always being there for me throughout every circumstance that occurred. My father for teaching me the valuable lesson of discipline and my brothers for showing me how to compete for the things I want. I would like to thank entrepreneurs like Jimmy “Jim-E-O” Ogbaa, Ousala “Prestley Snipes” Aleem, and Lebert “Gee” Lester who I know personally that has made an impact on my life from observing how they move with their own businesses. In regards to organizations, I would like to thank the Nation Of Islam for giving me a deep rooted concept of what it means to be self sufficient and representing what “doing for self” is. Not being dependant on anyone or anything that is external from within. Last but not least, I also would like to thank myself because if it wasn’t for me making the decision of putting my ideas to use, then I wouldn’t be able to tell my story.
