We had the good fortune of connecting with Sid King and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sid, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Faith & endurance. It is easy to think about something but it is extremely difficult to start & almost impossible to finish without faith in yourself, your product, your brand, and for me, God. In the same breath, anybody can start, but it takes a lot more than a good start to secure your ideal position in any race. I got my first job at 15 & have been working ever since. However I make work things I am passionate about. Therefore it’s easy to have faith in anything I’m involved with and the tenacity required for success becomes effortless.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I got my first job at 15 and by 17 I was the youngest person accepted into the ministry of foreign affairs in Sierra Leone west Africa. I came back, finished highschool, and began my matriculation through morehouse college. During that time I worked lead positions at Atlanta city hall, Atlantic records, Coca Cola, hbomax, ect. I became a member of GrammyU with the recording academy, interned with United Talent Agency, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I also worked for many political campaigns from Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, John ossoff, and more. All of this led me to be selected as the speaker for President Obama during the campaign for Raphael warnock 2022 December runoff campaign. It was not easy, not even close. One think I’ve learned is to truly enjoy the moment, forget about “what’s next”. Just keep going!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love doing spontaneous and invigorating things. So, I would start off the day going to a healthy smoothie spot. After we would definitely be going go-karting or maybe topgolf! Next would certainly be getting some good Atlanta brunch then heading to the zoo, aquarium, or Coca-Cola factory. My perfect day would probably end with us driving up to Helen or the Blue Ridge getting a cabin, going to a grocery store, buying our favorite foods and cooking up a storm.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Other than my family, two people who have been very instrumental in my professional career have been Markeena Novembre, dr Jacqueline Mohair, & Kimberly Latrice Jones. Since the day I’ve met them, they’ve only spoken light into me, pushed me, put me in rooms, and expose me to conversations that would in turn force me to continue to learn. Strong black women have always been such influences in my life & I encourage everyone to support them and their brands. These two ladies are genuine & offer so much of themselves to the world out of the pureness of their hearts.
