Hi Shynesha, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think calculated risk is absolutely necessary. I only said calculated because that’s just how I am lol. When it comes to risk, I quit my full-time job to pursue full-time entrepreneurship with no backup plan. My backup plan was that my original plan had to work. I remained positive throughout the process. Every day, I would get up as if I was getting ready for work. Then, I’d go sit at my desk and “clock in” at 8. I treated my business exactly like a job. I took my 1-hour lunch break and kept at it. I always made a daily to-do list. I kid you not, within 3 days of being unemployed, I had earned more than my monthly check from my old job. I had to quickly hire to manage the growth. So, to the reader who is thinking of taking that risk, DO IT.

Wine Down Marketing is a digital marketing agency that specializes in social media marketing, content planning & development, copywriting, and social media management. What sets us apart is our ability to portray any persona to effectively speak in the brand’s voice in order to reach their audience. I am proud of the growth of the agency as well as the versatility of our client industries. We have worked with clients in the restaurant, alcohol delivery, law, retail, sales, beauty, government contracting, e-commerce, and dental industries! It absolutely was a process getting here. To keep it short, I started out with internships in college. Then I landed full-time roles and gained various marketing certifications. Eventually, I resigned my job to run my agency full-time. Being disciplined as a new full-time entrepreneur was extremely difficult. There is no guaranteed paycheck if you don’t work. If you don’t plan your day, you will always feel behind.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I actually like to travel out of the state a lot, but if in Atlanta, I’m mainly a food girl. For food, I would say Breakfast at Barney’s, Cirque Bar & Grill, Sun Dial, Blu Seafood House, Milk and Honey, and Fade and Facet.

For fun, I would say Cake & Sip, Spaceman, Goldroom, Ponce City Market, and Sip and Scent.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Ahhhh, I believe everyone I’ve ever met has had an impact on me. I would absolutely like to thank all of my family, friends, clients, previous teachers, previous employers, strangers who provided me with a simple message they didn’t know I needed at that time, and so many more!
