We had the good fortune of connecting with Shy Company and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
If you ever wanna feel something real, new, life altering, or some other word for that chemical thing our brain does when we really like something ~ then you gotta take a risk! We miss out on so many opportunities to see what the world has to offer by being afraid and reluctant to take chances. A lot of our songs, like Can We Play. (https://linktr.ee/shycompany) were inspired by taking risks. It takes courage to sing and perform in front of people, but when it’s finally happening there is no better feeling than being able to connect with others through our music.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are an Indie Rock band based out of Macon, GA. We carve our own path into our Southern Rock roots, which has morphed into a completely new sound we call: ‘’East Coast Dream Pop.’’ We have performed in so many stellar cities across Georgia and we can’t wait to share our debut album as we tour up the East Coast. We recently filed a couple forms with the IRS and paid a hundred bucks and now we’re officially Shy Company Inc. I guess that makes us professionals now and it was pretty easy. If there was anything to know about Shy Company, it’s that we are all actually pretty shy, but we’re great company.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When you visit Macon, be sure to stop by the Visit Macon Center to get a full tour of the historical sites around downtown. The Dovetail restaurant serves delicious cocktails and has a seasonal farm-to-table menu. Stop by JBA or Grant’s and enjoy some live music or take cute photos in the photo booth downtown on Poplar street!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To all the people that have come out to listen and support us, whether we’re in our hometown or some place new, we want to thank you for letting us be ourselves and for helping us to stay inspired and keep going.
