We had the good fortune of connecting with Shontrell Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shontrell, how do you think about risk?
No risk , no reward! For years, I always took the straight path because that’s what I was taught. I had a good job, roof over my head, & bills were paid. Over the past five years or so, I’d consider myself a risk taker, a rebel even. The straight path kept me comfortable but comfortable wasn’t cutting it; I needed more. I was eager to be debt free and have more freedom.

Being a risk taker put me in the position to change my family’s life. April 2021, I turned in my resignation letter after 21 years with the same company. I’d been a “part time” Realtor for 2 years and my manager, at the time, crossed the line for the last time. I was ready to go all in but I was terrified! In real estate, if you don’t close deals, you don’t get paid. While I had two incomes, I was fortunate enough to save for rainy days and months where there are no closings. Walking away from a steady paycheck was the best thing I could have ever done. I’m so glad I decided to do different to get different results.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I get pleasure by helping others reach their goals. Not just in real estate but in life. What sets me apart from other Realtors is I add value by being resourceful & I’m relatable. This career connects me with amazing people who typically don’t know how to become homeowners. I wanted to become the Realtor that I wish I had when I purchased my first home; I’m very transparent. For my sellers, the goal is to get homes sold for top dollar with minimal hassle & peace of mind. I have a consultation with all potential clients; the sessions are informative and set the tone for the home buying/ home selling experience. I get so excited throughout the process but seeing keys transfer hands is a very special moment to witness.

I believe I am where I am today in business because of friends, family, & past client referrals, my social media following (branding) & making genuine connections. It took years to build the following & engagement on my social media pages. Gaining trust of others online started way before I became a Realtor. Was it easy? Absolutely not! Posting for fun is one thing but posting consistently for business is a different beast. I overcame those challenges by making sure I was being authentic, consistent, relatable & making genuine connections online & in real life. I’m proud that when the transaction is over, the real relationships begin. I keep in contact with almost all of my past clients.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Columbus has some of the best restaurants around so we’d probably spend most of the day eating! Breakfast would be Hudsons, Plucked Up or Bodega 1205. For lunch, we’d check out Pure, Vertigo, Warehouse 9, or The Cannon. Dinner would be Saltcellar, Mabella’s, or Blue Water Grill, We may make a stop at Vegos Taco Truck or Tuesday Taco Truck. There are so many options.

I love wine, so we can take a trip to Nutwood Winery in Lagrange. The outdoors is refreshing so lets go for a hike at the Little Grand Canyon in Lumpkin. I love people watching at the River walk; there’s white water rafting, zip lining, & bike rentals. Hangout spots would be roof top of Hotel Indigo or the Navi Wine Bar.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many that have contributed to my success so I can’t pin point one! God has placed some amazing people in my life. My parents raised me to treat people right & that alone has taken me far. They always went hard for me so its only right that I do what I can for them. My husband, Dewayne & my kids are my biggest cheerleaders. They’ve put up with my crazy ideas, long days, & late nights for years. They sacrificed a lot & believe in me! Although I’ve moved on from the MLM (multilevel marketing) industry, I can never forget the teachings & support. I learned so much: daily self development, networking, branding, the list goes on. I have connected with some awesome people.
