We had the good fortune of connecting with Shontorial Gilbert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shontorial, how does your business help the community?
My business helps the coummunity by supporting people to become the best and highest version of themselves. It gives people hope, empowerment and encouragement that there is more to life than what the individual maybe experiencing. My business provides a safe space where people can be vulnerable, be themselves and discover who they truly are and want to become. It offers new ways of thinking, being and transformation for a much happier and whole individual, which adds value to the community as a whole and the lives of others that my clients impact.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What I am most proud of about Walking In Purpose Coaching is that my services makes an impact in the lives of others, whether it is through individual coaching, training organizations or through conference speaking. Whatever capacity I get to serve others, I seek to add value and make a difference in the lives of the people that I serve. This is also the most exciting apsect of what I do.

I have always had a vision of owning my own practice. Although I faced many challenges in getting there, the outcome was still the same, just a different route. In order for me to get where I am in business today, it seems that I had to go through some of the challenges and life lessons that I would be supporting others in getting through. Mainly, I had a vision for my life and career. Even through the setbacks, I had to remain focused on the end result. This has been the key, to making milestones and continually building the brand of Walking In Purpose Coaching. If it was not for the vision, I proabably would have given up.

Needless to say, my journey has not been easy. Yes, I still face many challenges that often require my attention. I have learned to overcome challenges by not quickly reacting to every challenge in a negative way. Somethings that happen are beyond my control, in this case, I have learned to take the lessons from challenges and keep going. I only focus on the things that are in my control, how I respond, and the next steps that I take.

The lessons that I have learned along the way is to never give up. If you give up on your vision, you are guaranteed not to get there. It takes tenacity to keep going in a world that is saturated with life coaches and everyone promising value and results. I’ve also learned that through your toughest moments, your character is being built.

What I want the world to know about my brand and my story is that I have lived what I teach. Life Coaching is my calling and my purpose. Coaching others into their destiny and purpose is a gift that I hold to high standards with great value.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I absolutely love to relax every now and then by getting away and going to the beach. It is something about your toes being in the sand and sitting in front of the water that is relaxing. After a fun day of relaxation, I love to indulge in the best foods and desserts. Hair and make up is my thing! A great night in the town with shopping is ideal when I just want to hang out and have fun!

Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there a person, group, organization, book, etc. that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to the clients who support my business and encourge me to continue to do the work that I am called to do. To watch my client’s progress, see results and for them allowing me to be apart of their process is very humbling and rewarding. In addition, I have been overwhelmingly blessed to have the support of 2 amazing individuals who believed in me and helped to shape and mold the brand of Walking In Purpose Coaching when all I had was a vision, by the name of Jackie Greer and Valerie Beeson of GreerForce Marketing. Last, but certainly not the least, family support has been the life of my business.
