We had the good fortune of connecting with Shontae Seaborn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shontae, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from Atlanta, Ga I grew up in a neighborhood called Summerhill if your from Atlanta you know where Summerhill is. I feel like my background have definitely had a big impact on who I am today because growing up in the hood very much so humbles you. Well I can’t speak for everybody but for me yes, I never liked the word “CAN’T” I just feel like that word means weakness. I watched my mom raise all 5 kids by herself, but she made it look easy. We never seen a struggle until maybe I was in 5th grade. I’ve been without lights and water but that along made me realize god can take it all away in just a blink of a eye. I will never forget when I was in 10th grade my mom lost her job of 13 years, but you know what I did! I went and got me a job. I started my first job at McDonald’s in 10th grade I made sure my junior dues was paid in advance just in case my mom couldn’t make it happen. I was definitely going to the prom lol, but as I got into making all this money being young as I am it got to a point where it was interfering with school because I will get up for work and never for school so of course my mom made me quit because she didn’t want me to be a drop out like her. I’ve worked so many jobs over the years and I may give a job maybe a good 2 years and I’m out I just didn’t think working for somebody else was an option. I’ve been to medical and cosmetology school just because I really didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I knew it was nothing that I couldn’t do. The last job I worked was GateGourmet in 2020 enough was enough I prayed and asked god please send me a calling and I just up and quit and focused on nails. I told god now I’m putting my faith in you because you make all things possible and when I tell you he haven’t let me down. I took my first client in January 2019, I quit my job March 2020, and now I’m a full time entrepreneur of At Your Tips LLC.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I will be the one to say doing nails isn’t easy at all the art and creativeness is getting bigger by the day. But what sets me apart is my professionalism, personality and realness. I’m the nail tech that if you show me picture and I can’t do it I will let you know lol and practice it when you leave because like I said before I don’t like the word “CAN’T”. Even tho I work from home you come and get a nice vibe, good conversation, music, and most of all great laughs. I’m so excited about what’s coming next for you all I’m going to take At Your Tips to a new level.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
