Meet Shia Barton | Creative Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shia Barton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My daughter was the motivation behind me starting Shia B. Consulting. Ever since she was a little girl, I took pride in styling her for birthdays, events, etc. it was like my own personal Barbie doll, LOL. Styling became my happy place. I’ve always receive compliments for her outfits and photo shoots , which made people start asking for my help. But I never thought to turn it into a business. My daughter was apart of the Class of 2020 and I was so busy. She had numerous of events, photoshoots, birthday and a pageant. Then Covid hit(sad face). I ended up catching Covid and confined to my room. During that time, I had a lot of one on one time with God. I never thought about my future as much as I did before quarantine. God showed me something in myself that I was blind to. April 2020, it was time to record my daughter’s College Reveal Video. I never wanted the typical reveal with a picture of the school’s memorabilia. When I came up with a concept, I never knew it would get the response that it did. There was an outpour of love and encouragement. It went viral on social media and her college closed out the Decision Day Video with a snippet of her video. My family and close friends would say to me, You should really consider starting a business , because you have a gift. And at that very moment I decided to turn it into a business because I was so passionate about my work. So I started researching, budgeting and the process to begin my business. On May 1, 2021 I introduced my business with a client’s college reveal video. And slowly, things began to takeoff. I have some upcoming events and hopefully some collaboration in the near future. I know success don’t often happen overnight, so I just take it one day at a time. I’m thankful for it all, the good and the bad. Nobody said it would be easy but it’ll be so worth it. Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Styling and being the creative director behind events and videos/Photoshoots. I try to think outside the box as much as I can. It’s like my imagination has came to life again. Clients wants to know when they come to you that their things will be different from others. It wasn’t easy starting the business and it still isn’t easy but I’m not gonna give up. I have a long road ahead of me but the reward at the end of that road, will be priceless. I want the world to know The customer satisfaction is our number one priority. Also, that i promise to come up with the most meaningful and unique ideas.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Wheww lol. I have to really think about it because I’m a big sports fan. And that’s what excites me lol. I would definitely take her to all my favorite places to eat. Roc South, Pasha, NY Prime, Looove me some Fellinis Pizza(yummy), Breakfast at Barney’s, Noni’s, Chops, Jeni’s Ice cream, My Fair Sweets, C&S Seafood, Grindhouse burgers and of course grab some Tacos, just to name a few. We’re definitely going to Sporting events and sport bars(the battery and twin peaks are my fav). I don’t like clubs so we’ll hit a few lounges or day parties. I must take her to: Selfie Museum, Trap Museum, Piedmont Park, Centennial Olympic Park for concerts, MLK Center, Ride bikes on the Belt-line, The Skyview, Aquarium, Shopping, Painted Pin etc. We can also just lounge around the house to some good food and music(only times I’ll cook lol).

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my Daughter Nasjia and Sister Tanigha for their continued support and love. They push me to be the best version of me. I’m truly blessed to have them in my corner.
