We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherie Nevett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sherie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Being a lover of art and style began as a little girl. Fast forward to the age of 15, I was a customer shopping with my mom at a women’s specialty store, when the store director approached me and shouted in excitement, ” I love your style!” She offered me a job right on the spot. That moment was confirmation and inspired me to pursue a career in the fashion industry.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Sherie L. Nevett Apparel is a modernist line that offers whimsical shapes, novelty fabrics and bold patterns. The journey to my current success was not easy. I began my professional career as an intern in the Children’s Department of Neiman Marcus. That season of my life humbled me and taught me the value of hard work and discipline. I would love for the world to know that the culture of SLN is built on humility, hard work, integrity and dedication.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live for a great experience, so would kick-off our week long journey at the St. Regis Spa for a day of relaxation as we order lunch at their fabulous pool. The following day we would get a little cardio in as we walk the beltline starting at Krog Street and ending at Ponce City Market. Moving on to our next day of adventure, we would have a day of shopping at the Shops of Buckhead, but of course we must stop for lunch at one of my favorite French spots, Le, Bilboquet. MERCI! We will end the final days exploring museum’s, more fabulous restaurants and antique shops.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shouout to my wonderul husband, Bobby and beautiful son, Sir. You guys are the air that I breathe.
