We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherese Sutton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sherese, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
One step at a time each step with confidence is my favorite affirmation. It means no matter how big or small the step is take each step with confidence. Be fearless and keep going. I love that it reminds me to remain confident. Sometimes it can feel like you’re not doing enough. So that extra push of confidence is helpful.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Suttonly Lit is a hand poured candle company in Atlanta. Our passion is making people happy through fragrance.

It has not been an easy road to having my own business. See our candles are made with love and intention and when creating them I have to be very intentional. So if my energy is off then there is no candle making.

I want people to know my brand is for you. It’s for the person in their late 20’s early 30’s trying to figure out life. Then figuring out it’s okay to not have it figured out.

I would like people to know I’m super grateful for where we are today. I’ve learned being an entrepreneur that you are the boss. And that means so much more than you thought it did before.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my friends and family come to Atlanta I make sure I take them to Toast On Lenox. It is a brunch restaurants near Lenox Mall and it’s amazing. We always go to Piedmont Park, walk around and enjoy whatever activities the park has going on. Then I would take them to dinner at Poor Calvin’s. Their food is amazing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My village. They have all kept me grounded and inspired. They have pushed me and helped me so much during my journey. Especially when I moved from Philly to Atlanta. It’s when I saw my Village grow and strengthen. I am very grateful for all of the love and support they show me.
