We had the good fortune of connecting with Shelby Tinsley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shelby, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process in starting a business was all in the mission of developing a mobile app to send affirmations. With this idea came the evolving revolution of iShallBe.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have a lifetime of experience, creating opportunities through connecting words and people. As a newborn, I was named after an affirmation that I “Shall Be” all things without reservation. Before stepping into my purpose, I worked to educate diverse populations in best practices of employee engagement and company structures for government agencies, healthcare providers, and private industries. Moreover, I hold a Master’s of Art, in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, which I have helped evaluate and assess productivity through various work environments. I have experience in initiatives and projects that are centered around active learning, classroom methodology, and STEM. Over the years in my career, I have identified the beauty of encouraging individuals to find their talents and purpose. This further pushed me to develop the iShallBe app.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely! There have been moments when I wanted to give up and throw in the towel because things were becoming overwhelming and I felt defeated. Every time I have the moment of giving up, I will receive a message on social media from someone sharing how the iShallBe app has positively impacted them or pushed them to aim higher. I want to personally acknowledge each person who sent me those sweet messages sharing how much they loved iShallBe. What they did not know, is that they helped me get out of a dark place of self-doubt.
