We had the good fortune of connecting with Shelby & Jordan Wormley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shelby & Jordan, how do you think about risk?
Feeling exposed, and vulnerable is uncomfortable and can be quite terrifying to some. Learning how to lean into that uncomfortability and trusting your unknown purpose is the first step and it’s a big one. But once you’ve taken it, you’ll discover just how capable and brave you are and have always been. You’ll never be able to turn back because you’ve already taken one of the greatest risks a person can take and that is betting on yourself.

When my husband/partner Jordan and I decided that we were going to take the leap, I left my career in Broadcast Television News as a photojournalist to pursue our company full time. We knew it would come with a lot of challenges and risks. The risk of falling flat on our face, failing and failing again was scary, but we weighed the risk of not sharing what we had to offer this world and decided that this company, our vision was worth the risk. When the window of opportunity presented itself we were hesitant and afraid at first. When we felt the window closing and we knew we didn’t want to ask ourselves “What if”. So we dove in.
“Live is a series of calculated risks.

We decided this was worth it.”
-Shelby Wormley Co-Founder of WE&Company

I view risk as an opportunity to challenge and invest in myself and capability. I accept that anything worth doing is going to carry uncertainty and even a bit of anxiety. Acknowledging those factors and deciding to pursue the opportunity is one way to stretch oneself and achieve personal growth. I don’t believe in just taking risks haphazardly but I lean into the ones I do take. That means accepting both the best possible outcome and worst possible outcome at the beginning. I have found more often than not I have always been able to become a better version of myself regardless of the outcome. Accepting that there are lessons and value in both success and failure alleviates much of the stress in the risk itself. Diving completely into our Company has stretched my wife and I in ways we could have never predicted. However, taking the risk to believe in ourselves turned out not to be a risk after all, instead it was an investment in ourselves and capabilities. We are all stronger and more capable than we know, but we only discover that through embracing the risk.”

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Through videography, photography and other well-crafted visual strategies, every person is given their own platform no matter what background or avenue of life they come from.  Our combined background in broadcast news and live production help us bring a unique perspective to our clients. As a company,  we are advocates for a strong community and strive to provide a safe place for inclusive and diverse storytelling. We have built our lives and our business on building real relationships with our customers. As a new company just three years old, we are growing fast and learning more each day. We have been able to meet every challenge with the help and support from our community and our mentors who have steered us along the way. We believe everyone has a story worth hearing and we are here to help you share it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

We thank God for all of the people who have poured into our vision and have supported us along the way. We especially want to thank our family who taught us to always walk by faith.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We love the city of Lancaster PA. also known as the Red Rose City and a Welcoming City. Lancaster is a diverse city with a diverse culture. For us we love visiting every corner of the city that allows us to meet our neighbors and enjoy the rich history of so many. Whether it’s grabbing authentic Spanish Cuisine from Gran Sabor Latino or Franklin Avenue, Karaoke nights at TCP (The Cultured Professional), listening to Live music at Tellus, or playing classic games at Decades Arcade on Queen street, there is always something to do in Lancaster.
