We had the good fortune of connecting with Shawn Ward and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shawn, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m from Chicago born and raised growing up in Chicago during the 80s 90s taught me how to speak my mind say what I mean and mean what I say being a voice for my culture and generation is highly contributed to the environment of growing up on the south side of Chicago

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started this journey and Radio, roughly about eight years ago during the peak of podcasting I created, and found it my own podcast brand and network, which featured a few notable podcast one being The Mancave Show, which started it all then came Scent gents radio which was a podcast, created to, and dedicated to fragrance fashion and politics with my good friend Derrick Ford we were the only podcast, dedicated to interviewing and spotlighting the influencers of the fragrance community fragrance designers as well then came, my Radio opportunity my influence landed me a morning show on Atlanta’s number one urban adult contemporary R&B station HOTT923 exclusively on iHeartRadio with my and my two friends and cohost we would come on right after the Sheryl Underwood morning show two years strong then came the pandemic and a rebranding happened where I then launched now to be known red cup conversations which I moved the show to weekend with my good friend, Bryan, Hunter, and Derrick Ford then last year, we revamped and brought on Cleveland Ohio’s own DJ Papi and we have been growing ever since

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely the beltline Ponce city market some parts of Buckhead on Wednesday’s at the spaceman rooftop party amazing event shoutout to Ken also there are some hidden gyms in east Atlanta even Atlantic Station has some cool chill spots

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s a few friends, they gave me a collaborative of energy to be a voice in my community and within my culture it’s hard to pinpoint it to one but my circle of friends have always encouraged me to be an impactful voice within my culture one of my biggest inspirations outside of my mother and friends minister, Louis Farrakhan and my good friend Art
