Meet Shawn Painter | Music video Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shawn Painter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shawn, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
Important lesson I got taught, was that you gotta take some risk, you gotta work your ass off to be successful and people just want to wake up or be born into success. It not that easy. If you aren’t out working everybody in your field, you’re being left behind. Because while you sit and slack off on a project the next man In onto his next one. And never worry about the next man’s pockets or work.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Cinematographer from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. What separates me from other individuals in the field I am pursuing, is that. I don’t hold back my creativity, and with every project, I try new thing to explore and expand on how far I can really go. I can’t say I’m excited or proud of much any the moment because I’m just getting started and still leaning and understanding the process of the business. Im just ready for everyone and everything new that comes my way to help me become better. I got to where I am through a lot of discipline and sacrifices. No it wasn’t easy because I never thought I’d be doing this, I always wanted to go into the medical field. This was completely unexpected. I’d want to the world and everyone to know that’s if you just sacrifice 1-5 years of hard work and a strong team, you can live the realist of your life with ease, and a lot of people don’t understand really how easy that it but they would rather party, or slack off, just work. Get ya job done, then go play but the job isn’t done until the job is done. Nothing in this world is worth skipping out on your goals and dreams.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d probably take them to maybe Larenceville, south side, peters township, or even downtown has a lot of different home grown spot.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To be honest, not really. Not trying to be rude or anything. But I’ve done everything by myself. Got the equipment, softwares, laptop. Etc without help just working my ass off. And letting my work Speak for itself.
