We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaunice Cherelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shaunice, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Over night success is not success over night. It’s usually years of cultivating, sacrifice and unbelievably hard work put in behind the scenes that no one but your family and day ones really know about. Then, when it’s your time, everything suddenly aligns and the world finally catches up.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an R&B/Soul artist. My biggest music inspiration is Anita Baker following behind with Sade, Luther Vandross, Marvin Gaye, Sarah Vaughan and Nat King Cole. I do like to channel my alter ego often and switch up my pen game to tap into rap.

Though I’ve been singing my entire life, I started singing professionally and recording music nearly 7 years ago. Nothing about it was easy. I was in my early 20s, still learning life, surviving, managing, all the things. Throughout the process, I evolved in every aspect. I learned that I had to go through a molding journey to find who I really was. I had to become who I needed to be in order to receive what I was destined to recieve.

As far as the world… I am who I am.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love a good lunch spot or something outdoorsy. My friends and I like to go out on a limb and end up wherever the wind takes us lol. Since, I’m from Tampa, there’s no main spot I can think of in ATL where I can say I absolutely have to visit when I’m in town. I will say, overall the food that I have tried while there was pretty good and the people are great!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, God. I literally would not be here nor be who I am if it wasn’t for him.

Second, I want to dedicate a shoutout to my beautiful family. The amount of love and support they fill me with is over the moon. Words can’t express how grateful I am to have such a warming and caring group of individuals in my life that are all my own special persons. They’ve always believed in anything I wanted to do in life. Since I was a little girl, music has always been apart of me. With this gift, It was inevitable that I would eventually take the path of singing and my family has been on this ride with me since the beginning. Thank you 1000 times.

Finally, my friends. It is such a great feeling to have people who genuinely care about you and want the best for you. Friends that feel what you feel and want for you what you want for yourself, if not more! Thank you for always having my back, supporting me, being in the field with me, losing sleep with me, crying with me and celebrating with me. It’s a journey of its own to distinguish who’s who on your path, but ending up with a solid group of friends is such a blessing.
