We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaquor Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shaquor, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is the strong connections I create with my clients when they come to their appointments. Social media drives a lot of my bookings and showing who I am and being myself is what makes my clients and potential clients feel comfortable enough to even spend money with me. Before entering the skincare industry I was a professional dancer and I bridge the gap between my two passions by utilizing the reel feature of Instagram and the TikTok app to create dance videos at the end of a treatment to show my clients glow and how happy they are after investing in their skin! That alone has gotten me recognized by many just because you don’t see your esthetician dancing with their clients and most of my clientele are professional dancers that work with mainstream artists so it looks GOOD. So in the end my clients book a service but receive an experience which is what keeps my business growing and successful.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What differentiates me from other professionals is my personality, how I handle my clients and make sure to always give them an experience but most of all how I market myself. When I entered this industry I had so much knowledge on branding and marketing and how to make people want to spend their hard earned dollars with you from being in the entertainment industry as a dancer. I took that knowledge and applied it to my brand “The Local Skin Dealer” and it has grown my business a great amount in a short time. I make my own logos, create my own videos, brand my own content and have began to build a solid and reliable clientele. Since I wanted to give back to the dance community, I have began to start a lot of professional dancers skincare journey’s. I have worked on dancers like Deja Carter who have danced for artists from the City Girls to Meek Mill & Jene Marie who has been on Ellen, Nickelodeon and worked with some of your favorites from Missy Elliot to Ciara. These are just two of the beautiful souls I get to work on but its the magic that happens after the facial that keeps me booked. After receiving a spa service my dancing clients and I do quick TikTok’s and Reels for social media and the people LOVE it. I believe it is because there is no other esthetician marketing themselves like me and you can’t find content like mine anywhere else. My clients call it “TikTok and Chill” which I think is funny but really cool. I have many clients that come just for the fun of creating a video with me and when they see how professional I am and the results I can produce it just makes everything worth it. It’s definitely not easy but I keep pushing because it’s bigger than me. I have clients that come to me about very personal issues PCOS, hyperpigmentation, breakouts, etc & I’ve learned how much of a necessity I am for these people when I can fix their concerns. I want the world to know skincare is just as important as washing your body & brushing your teeth everyday, skin is the largest organ we have so let’s take the necessary steps to nurture it!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend is actually visiting in September and I am super excited! We have always been spontaneous and adventurous since we were kids so I definitely want to do something even I haven’t already. I do know that we have to go to the botanical garden it is just absolutely beautiful and a connection with nature is always good for the soul. The Georgia Aquarium is the place we will probably go that I haven’t seen before as I hear they just added some new interesting things to see there. As far as food goes I have a whole list but to name a few, Slutty Vegan, Roc South Cuisine, TasteBuddz ATL & Juiceheads ATL. These are all black owned flourishing restaurants in Atlanta which is another reason I love it here.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As I changed career paths I definitely felt some anxiety about if I would be able to impact the world the way I would like to but my close friend & business partner Raynold Fair owner of “Fair Skin Spa” gave me a chance which changed my life! I landed a job as an assistant at Fair Skin Spa right before I ended my esthetician program which was truly a blessing. Therefore, when I graduated I knew I had the opportunity to make a career out of skincare and actually change peoples lives and confidence EVERY DAY! What made it better was the fact that our clientele was mostly LGBTQIA+ and our business already had a narrative as that was Ray’s way of giving back to his community as he walks the face category in the ballroom scene. This partnership was perfect and I am thankful for it.
