We had the good fortune of connecting with Shannon Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shannon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The impetus for launching my business stemmed from my confidence in developing a product that addresses my clients’ needs. Leveraging my experience, I aimed to create solutions that enhance my clients’ effectiveness.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My company that I am highlighting today is Taking the Yard Resources Ltd Company. There are few minority owned companies that provides resources and solutions that Taking the Yard does. Taking the Yard is aimed at helping ministry leaders and students build collegiate and young adult ministries that transform lives and produces leaders that will impact and influence the world.
I got where I am today by depending on God to lead the way, hard work, and implementing strategic approaches that would help push the business forward. That process has not been a easy journey but it has been well worth it. I overcome the challenges of running a business by getting sound wisdom from others who are better than myself in certain areas and following great business practices.
One of the greatest lessons that I have learned is that everything in a process. Be patience in the process.
I would want others to know the Taking the Yard Brand is that it is built on excellence. Our goal is to be excellent in all that we do and the services and experiences that we provide our client.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take to interlock for a fun game of putt putt at the putt shack, we would check out City Winery for some great food and good music. We would stop by The Breakfast Club for breakfast the next day. I would encourage people to visit the King Center, The world of Coca Cola and definitely stop by the Atlanta University Center.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
