We had the good fortune of connecting with Shanice Walters and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shanice, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I truly believe in the idea that without risk, there can be no true reward. I think that there is a certain amount of risk associated with everything that is worth attaining. In fact, it has been in those moments of uncertainty and discomfort that I have both grown and learned the most. At this point in my life, I welcome the good “danger” that is associated with the risks that get me closer to my dreams.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
SWTropicalGetaways is a full-service travel agency that offers customized vacation packages, cruises, flight + hotels, luxury villas, excursions, group trips and more! We specialize in finding the best deals to the hottest destinations in the world while providing amazing customer service. With a passion for client satisfaction, our #1 goal is to make your next SW-getaways an experience to remember. Getting started came with a ease, because I was already my own travel advisor. I’ve had a few bumps along the road, but those obstacles only enforced my persistence. Some people consider obstacles to be threatening and reason to turn around.

Thinking about the obstacles is a waste of time. We reflect on mistakes and change directions for the next time. We’ve learned a lot, but there are a few things we’re reminded of every day. Great customer service is a must because our client referrals are how we stay afloat. Without them there would be no SWTropicalGetaways Experience.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There’s so many great places in Atlanta to eat and I LOVE food! We’d definitely eat at Pappadeux, Oceanaire, Krab Queenz, and Busy Bees. We’d have drinks at Cirque, Boogalous, and RA Sushi. We’d visit the APEX museum, the Wild Animal Safari (I love animals), and maybe do some rock climbing or go-carting. In my view anything that gives my adrenaline a rush is worth my time “LOL”. There’s places around Atlanta where you can do a helicopter ride, & ATV/horseback riding…I just LOVE a great adventure!
