We had the good fortune of connecting with Shana Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shana, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe risks plays a huge role in the success of your life and/or career. Without taking risk you won’t gain the strength needed to learn and be successful. As an educator, teaching my students that taking risk is a part of life is a goal that I want them to take away as a real-world connection. I understand that risk is a part of the learning process and with reflection, I became a better person and entrepreneur. I take risk everyday but mostly when starting my business. I believe that taking risk forces you to being comfortable with the uncomfortable. Networking and financially, I thought, wow! How

What should our readers know about your business?
Ssalexacreations llc. started as a hobby for me to make my own teacher tees. My first few customers were my co-workers and I perfected my brand by researching about a creative branding business. I received an order of a table cloth with our school name on it and the mascot. Next, I made glasses with different logos and names as gifts. Once, I saw people liked them, I added glasses to my list of orders, then etching. Next, the pandemic brought about the idea of mask. I’ve always known that I was a quick learner and reflect on everything I do, so I took the jobs that seemed difficult or new and it was the start of my hobby becoming a business. I researched how to start a business and follow the steps. Networking is definitely a huge part of making my business a success. I would have to say that was a challenge for me. My customers make it easier and my support systems aids with the networking process. My business allows me to take others ideas and make it better than they imagined. My customers have never been disappointed. I am excited once I finish an order and its better than I imagined because I know my customers will be blown away. I am proud of my drive and confidence. I’m excited that my business name is heard of by “word of mouth”. People excited about what was created for them and the final product is what makes me most proud. My customers coming back for more and giving me shout outs on social media is an awesome feeling. I have to say that I am still learning and appreciating the journey. Being an entrepreneur is not an easy task but it is fulfilling. Lessons that I have learned along the way are to never give up, find balance in everything you do and do not be afraid to ask for help. I want the world to know that I would categorize myself as a lifetime learner and entrepreneur with a full-time career as an elementary educator. I have been in education for over 5 years but I was born a creator, designer and artist. I have delved into watercolor, interior design, floorplans, decorating and savaging old things to newer things.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Let’s start with I am such an introvert but one of my favorite things to do in Atlanta is eat. I would take them to a great atmosphere and environment downtown such as Ponce City Market for Mexican. The beltline is a great place to walk or ride bikes. We would visit the Atlanta History Museum, World of Coco Cola, and Georgia Aquarium for a day and eat at Mary Mac’s Tea Room. We would visit Harold’s Chicken and Ice Bar, Busy Bee, Mr. Everything and go to Kat’s Café for some live music. I like to have fun at places like main event and Andretti’s. Very chill places that we can chat, eat and have fun are most exciting for me.
