We had the good fortune of connecting with Shamika King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shamika, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
The single most important decision that I made to contribute to my success is starting my journey to living a healthy lifestyle mentally, physically, spiritually. Creating a better version of myself has given me a opportunity to help inspire, encourage and motivate others to start a healthy life journey of there own.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started a brand with my business partner Charlette called No Fear Athletics. We developed a brand that is committed to creating a realistic approach to health and wellness for a balanced lifestyle change. We offer athletic merchandise that encourages people to pursue a active lifestyle. Emphasizing our motto “Live life with no fear.” We are so excited to continue to inspire others to conquer there fears and step out on faith making better life choices. I am proud how far we have came with our owe health journey. My health journey helped shape me into the business women I am today. Being a black women in health and fitness business is a challenge on its own. However the most difficult challenge I faced is being respected in this industry. Being a mother and not having the perfect body to the world we are in today. Social media has paint this imagine that everything that come with your body is easy made not self made. In order for me to keep pushing I realize that I have to be different and show other women that you can come back strong with confidence from having a baby or from being overweight and create your own healthy body goals. The lessons that I have learned is to stay consistent with whatever you do in life. Stay true to yourself and always remain in love with yourself. We are real individuals that care about you overcoming your fears and becoming the best version of yourself. I want the world to know that I am looking forward in the future to introducing a new business called Fitness N Heels Club a women empowerment movement that will encourage women to take back there confidence through sexy dance fitness and Ladies Night Out. Bringing women to together to embrace there curves while learning how to embrace there sexiness. I can’t to see what God has in stored for me in the future.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So bestie is in town for the weekend we are definitely going dancing. My bestie and I love Dancehall and Reggae so we would go Rum Jungle club in Orlando to get the best of both worlds of dancehall, afro beat ,old school reggae. I love eating really good food but also love eating healthy. My choice of places to go eat in the city would be Greens and Grille in Millenia. They have the best salads ever. However my bestie Charlette loves seafood so I would take her to Mr. and Mrs. Crabs for some tasty seafood boil. Being that we are both workout junkies we would definitely go to the best gym in town Self Made Facility in Winter Park for a great workout. Charlette loves riding bikes so on the itinerary would be to go to the West Orange Bike Trail in Winter garden for site seeing of the Winter garden downtown area.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a shoutout to my business partner of No Fear Athletics Charlette English-Wright. Not only is she my business partner but a great friend that gives the best advice ever. Also love to shoutout my little sister Mesha Ambrose. She is my biggest supporter in anything I do. She believes in my visions even when they don’t make sense. Definitely want to shout out this greatness Deliqua Isom for being such a great inspiration to me. Also just believing in me. Foremost I have to give thanks to God for guiding me through this journey. For keeping me humble through the good and bad days. I give thanks for my son Armand Savain. He has been my reason to go so hard in life and make things happen. He is my guiding light. Also give credit to one of my favorite authors John C. Maxwell “How Successful People Grow” giving me the right tools reading this book daily. It’s helped learn many resourceful things that help me elevate in my career but also help me discover a new me in the process.
